Q Let Me Build A Honey Badger in 5.56
At Q, the core philosophy boils down to this: "Nobody really minds what you're up to, as long as you're enjoying yourself," explained Nick Schaefer, an engineer who's played a key role in developing many of Q's products. This mindset influences every aspect of the team's work, from brainstorming designs to assembling custom orders. It's a blend of cheeky humor, serious technical expertise, and lots of good vibes - just what you'd anticipate from the group responsible for iconic creations like the Honey Badger and the Fix.
AR-15 Maintenance Schedule: Complete Guide
The internet can't agree on AR cleaning schedules. You've got the "after every range trip no matter what" crowd and the "never cleaned mine, runs great" guys. Both are kinda wrong. Real answer depends on how you shoot and what you're willing to tolerate. Your rifle won't grenade if you skip a cleaning session. But neglect adds up.

In the world of AR15s, the sky truly is the limit with almost endless options for every budget. As of the time of this writing, there are complete rifles available online starting at $349.99. With such a wide variety of pricing, looking at some of the most expensive options can seem wild. The MK12 SPR: The Multi-Tool of the AR World
The AR-15 has become the most prolific modern rifle in America—and for good reason. Its modularity, accuracy, ergonomics, and proven track record make it a top choice for self-defense, competition, and professional use. But among all the possible configurations, there’s endless debate over which build is truly “best.” There is personal conjecture from both professionals and content ninjas alike. Today is an examination on the original modern-day patrol carbine, the MK12 SPR; more than a precision weapon, the SPR is the do-all shooter; the SPR is the multi-tool of ARs.
[SHOT 2026] First Look - Spuhr AR-15 Upper Receiver
Back in the summer of 2025 we got the first word that Hakan Spuhr, the Swedish inventor and master machinist who brought us innovations like the Spuhr stock, his unique mounting interface system and some of the best optics mounts available, had developed an AR-15 upper receiver. At the Mile High booth I was excited to get a close up look at one of the uppers and have Hakan kindly talk me through his design’s features.

Photo Of The Day and one of the few builds with irons only is on display. The builder and photographer is Holt Works Photography, showing off his new 7.5” 556 FRT (Forced Reset Trigger). The rail and buffer tube is Cerakoted in slate grey, with some bright wire added in to lighten it up. The upper is FDE with some white added. The lower from Palmetto State Armory uses a Troy Coyote Tan, also with some bright white mixed in. In my opinion, some of the best Cerakotes I’ve seen ran mixed colors, but it’s difficult to do the same thing twice.

POTD: The German Messerschmitt AR15 by Schmeisser
Photo Of The Day, where we continue to look at interesting firearms (and their names) from around the World. Today, it’s time for the Schmeisser Messerschmitt AR15 Swedish Hunter Edition, made in Germany. This rifle was designed specifically for Swedish hunters in response to recent legislative changes that made hunting with AR-15s legal. Unfortunately, that legislation changed for the worse just as quickly and the Government is preparing to confiscate them all, and a few more.
The Best Cheap AR-15
When someone asks me what AR to buy, there are two questions I always ask back: What are you intending to use the gun for, and what is your budget? If the answer to the first question is “working as a military contractor in a war zone,” then the answer to the second question should be high. However, for many people, an AR will perform some combination of duties like coyote blaster, soda can hunter, carbine class tool, and home defense gun. It is possible to get a lot of gun without breaking the bank, but some guns are much better deals than others.

POTD: TROY Defender Personal Survival Weapon - 300 BLK
Recently, the TROY Defender PSW in 5.56 was released, and many asked for the obvious. That has now been fixed, as the 300 Blackout version of the TROY Defender PSW is now available on their website. For this Photo Of The Day, we have a mix of images of the 5.56 and the new 300 BLK version. Which caliber would you prefer? As much as I like the 5.56, I think it needs a longer barrel, so I’d go for the 300 BLK, which also would suppress a lot better.
