POTD: The German Messerschmitt AR15 by Schmeisser
Photo Of The Day, where we continue to look at interesting firearms (and their names) from around the World. Today, it’s time for the Schmeisser Messerschmitt AR15 Swedish Hunter Edition, made in Germany. This rifle was designed specifically for Swedish hunters in response to recent legislative changes that made hunting with AR-15s legal. Unfortunately, that legislation changed for the worse just as quickly and the Government is preparing to confiscate them all, and a few more.
The Messerschmitt AR15 features an 18″ match barrel with a .223 Wylde chamber, hence this rifle seamlessly supports both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO ammunition. The slimmer barrel reduces weight compared to the Pro Hunter, enhancing portability without sacrificing performance. Note the Messerschmitt logotype.
The rifle is equipped with a 20-click adjustable gas block, allowing fine-tuned gas pressure adjustments for various ammunition types, suppressor use, or environmental conditions. A rifle-length gas system is paired with a slim, free-float M-LOK handguard, featuring accessory slots at 3:00, 6:00, and 9:00 for customizable mounting options.
This rifle shipped with a 5-round magazine, to follow legislation for hunting. The optics and mounts were sold separately.
Ex-Arctic Ranger. Competitive practical shooter and hunter with a European focus. Always ready to increase my collection of modern semi-automatics, optics, thermals and suppressors. TCCC Certified. Occasionaly seen in a 6x6 Bug Out Vehicle, always with a big smile.
