After 16 years of service, the Danish Defense Forces are transitioning from the M/10 to the new GV M/25 C8 MRR. The first rifles are now being issued, including to instructors at the Air Force Sergeant’s School in Karup, who recently took the platform to the range ahead of a new intake of sergeant students. Optics? The Specter.

The M/25 is produced by Colt Canada, the same manufacturer that supplied the previous service rifle. While the overall manual of arms remains familiar, soldiers report noticeable improvements. The rifle is slightly lighter, offers improved ergonomics, and features an updated rail system designed to better support modern optics and accessories.

According to instructors, the transition has been straightforward due to operational similarities between the two rifles. After zeroing and familiarization, they are prepared to pass that knowledge on to the next generation of NCOs.

Denmark’s Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation initially signed for 26,000 rifles, a number that has since expanded to nearly 50,000 units, marking a significant modernization step for the Danish armed forces.

  • It's a shame they didn't follow the growing trend of a Piston system instead of a Di. But half of the rifles will be Coyote in color, and half black, so that's a nice change.

    • That’s because piston guns suck and are a solution for a problem that does not exist. Shoving an external gas piston into an AR is dumb.

The “men” who think that external gas piston guns are better sit down to urinate.

Short stroke pistons on ARs are awesome, and would have been a great choice. Clearly, "Heat is still overrated" doesn't shoot suppressed. ARs suck even with the best flow-through can.

All of my AR internal pistons use a non flow through suppressor and a Rifle Speed adj gas block. Never had a problem with any of them. More credulous external piston fan boy hubris gulled by HK propaganda.
