POTD: My White JP Rifles CTR-02 - Pristine and Pointless

Alright, let’s have some fun poking at white AR-15s, those pristine, alabaster rifles that look like they’re ready for a photoshoot at a hipster coffee shop. I mean, who paints their AR-15 white?

Well, I did. Relatively young, pockets full of money, and I already had AR-15s in all sorts of Cerakote colors, and so did everyone else. But no one had a white one, and I live in the region of snow (and, unfortunately, darkness).

My wife said I couldn’t buy a Porsche, so I spent it all on guns and customization.

A white rifle seemed like the perfect choice, but I wanted to add some pattern to it and add to the uniqueness. I think the name was White Urban Digital Flake, or something cool along those lines. Easy purchase process for my undeveloped brain.

White is flashy, but it’s gonna get dirty the second before you take it to the range. I never imagined that gunpowder residues would protrude from all sorts of unknown places, making cleaning virtually impossible. I’m no “gun cleaner”, but this was silly.

Let’s be real, a white AR-15 screams, “I spent more time picking the color than I’ll ever spend shooting it.” However, I really didn’t mind shooting it, apart from the fact I went for a 14” barrel with a JP compensator for 16” overall length (I had no other legal options for a shorter one at the time). Now I love JP Rifles, but they’re all 18” or longer, for a very smooth gas system and recoil. But this white one is always at full gas, with - in comparison - quite a punch.

The K9 barricade support was quite popular back in the days, but it’s been a while since I’ve seen one - including mine! I had several, of course. In most cases, it’s about as pointless as that Phase 5 Extended Bolt Release.

15 years later, buying a Porsche would have been a lot cheaper. This JP is going in for a major change, as soon as the parts I’ve waited over a year for arrive.

Can you relate? Please type up some support in the comments below, and tell me I’m not alone.
