POTD: Shine At The Range - The Fully Nickel-Plated POF-USA Rifle
Today’s Photo of the Day comes from an eye-catching listing on GunBroker, featuring a striking POF‑USA P415 that has been finished in a full nickel plating. The rifle originates from Patriot Ordnance Factory, a company known for producing piston-driven AR-pattern rifles and other fun components.
While the P415 platform is typically recognized for its short-stroke gas piston system and billet construction, this example stands out almost entirely because of its finish. The bright nickel plating gives the rifle a reflective, almost mirror-like appearance that contrasts sharply with the matte finishes usually seen on modern sporting rifles.
Mechanically, the rifle remains a standard P415-pattern AR-15 chambered in 5.56 NATO, but visually it leans heavily toward the collectible or display side of the spectrum. Rifles like this occasionally surface in auctions and custom builds, showing how far AR platforms can be taken when aesthetics become part of the project - and it’s great food for TFB’s POTD.
