POTD: Machine Gun Santa
Have you ever seen Santa with a Machine Gun before? Well, in this Photo Of Day from Latvia, that’s what you get. With only days left until Christmas Eve, the Land Forces Mechanized Infantry Brigade shares scenes from its seasonal “Miracles Happen!” series.
While soldiers continue their daily tasks, a Santa Claus figure trains alongside them. Santa is running safety checks, inspecting equipment, and practicing movement drills.
The imagery highlights a light-hearted holiday tradition embedded in routine military activity, pairing winter symbolism with standard readiness training.
The Latvian Land Forces’ Mehanizētā kājnieku brigāde is the military’s largest professional unit, tasked with defending Latvia’s territory and maintaining readiness for combat and international deployments. It includes mechanized infantry battalions, artillery and support elements, and regularly participates in national defense and NATO exercises.
