Sturm, Ruger & Company has expanded its American Rifle Generation II lineup with the introduction of the new Prairie variant. The addition broadens the series with models chambered in calibers ranging from 22 ARC to 7mm PRC, covering both intermediate and long-range hunting applications. While the stock might look a bit strange, it looks like it could do great for anyone (that’s everyone!) who uses an optic for their aiming.

Sturm, Ruger & Company @ TFB:

The top image shows a 22 ARC, while all the other images are of a .308 Win.

The Prairie model features a black synthetic stock with gray and bronze splatter texturing, designed to enhance grip and handling in field conditions. Its barreled action is finished in Smoked Bronze Cerakote for added corrosion resistance. The bull contour, cold hammer-forged barrel is fluted to aid cooling and reduce weight, while the threaded muzzle includes a color-matched thread protector for use with suppressors or other muzzle devices.

Like other rifles in the Generation II line, the Prairie variant retains the platform’s focus on accuracy and durability, incorporating a three-position safety, stainless steel locking bolt, and a more rigid stock design than earlier models. With this release, the Ruger American Rifle Gen II series now includes 48 configurations across 21 chamberings.

The MSRP is $729. The upcoming 300 Win Mag and 7mm PRC models don’t have a price yet.

There have been a few new rifle releases recently that run a veil or splatter pattern (like this one) in combination with bronzed-out firearm parts. I think it looks great, and it wouldn’t surprise me if we see more of these.
