[SHOT 2026] DryFireMag Expands Smart Mag Lineup to PDP, M&P, Shadow 2

DryFireMag dropped three new Smart Mag models at SHOT Show 2026. Walther PDP, Smith & Wesson M&P, and CZ Shadow 2 all get the trigger-reset treatment now. Complete systems run $325 and come with everything you need: training magazine, laser cartridge, barrel block, and red laser for shot feedback.

The Smart system does two things at once. Automatic trigger reset without racking the slide, plus a laser pulse so you can see where your shots land. Pop in the magazine, pull the trigger, and you're ready for the next rep. No slide manipulation between pulls. The laser works with electronic targets, simulator apps, or just plain paper if you want to track your shots the old-fashioned way.

What's in the Box:

  • Training magazine (molded for each specific pistol)
  • Proprietary laser cartridge
  • Barrel block/adapter
  • Red visible laser
  • $325 MSRP

The Walther PDP model fills a hole that's been bugging people for a while. Shooters were stuck either dry firing the traditional way or just waiting. The PDP's Dynamic Performance Trigger really shines with high-volume practice, and I am sure not having to rack the slide between every rep makes a difference.

M&P shooters already had standard DryFireMag options, but the Smart version adds that integrated laser system. The M&P series moves a lot of units for duty and competition, so this was bound to happen.

The CZ Shadow 2 announcement turned some heads. Competition guys love that pistol for USPSA and Steel Challenge, and dry fire is basically mandatory for getting good with that SA/DA trigger. Someone was running the Shadow 2 model on the simulator when I walked through the booth, so I couldn't get hands-on, but the fit makes sense for a competition-focused platform.

One thing to know: standard laser training cartridges won't work here. DryFireMag's design doesn't release the firing pin like a normal trigger pull would. The magazine talks electronically to the laser cartridge to fire the pulse. The barrel block keeps everything lined up and protects your gun bits.

At $325, you're paying the same as the current Smart Mag offerings. You can be thankful they didn't hike it just to pay for any extra tooling/development for these new models. No firm ship date yet, but expect them on DryFireMag's site once production catches up.

Would you guys and gals drop $325 on a Smart DryFireMag system, or does that price tag push you toward old-school dry fire? Let us know all of your thoughts in the comments below. We always appreciate your feedback.
