POTD: The PZD Mk24 Light Machine Gun
If the World is low on press releases, rest assured that TFB’s Photo Of The Day keeps rocking your day. Let’s take a closer look at the new PZD Mk24 Light Machine Gun to get to know it a little better. DSS is a young weapons manufacturer based in Prague, but it seems they got off to a great start.
The “about” caption from PZD gives you a more understanding of the firearm:
“The PZD MK24 represents the premier model in a newly developed category of PZD machine guns by DSS. This weapon system was designed to address the requirements of the 21st-century operator. The combination of the essential characteristics of a machine gun with the ergonomics and weight of an assault rifle represents a significant innovation in the field of weaponry.
The MK24 machine gun is distinguished by its lightweight yet robust recoil-reducing design, which enables the operator to effectively engage distant targets with precision and efficiency.
Another advantage is the minimalist design of the feeding device, which is characterized by a straightforward and efficient mechanism which ensures that accessories remain securely in place after zeroing and firing. The whole receiver in combination with the continuous Picatinny rails, was specifically designed as a free float in the barrel area for enhanced heat dissipation.
Key features are a quick-change barrel and a select fire trigger that allows single shots are standard. A reduction in weight of 30% in comparison to other light machine guns in the same category enables each operator to carry a greater quantity of ammunition or other essential materials.”

The looks remind me a bit of the FN Evolys. Have your say in the comments.

Looks based on the Knight LAMG, which is an excellent foundation. Rangers have been testing it.
If DSS can start with the K-LAMG and somehow make actual improvements to it, they'll have a winner.
Eventually, the USMC will backtrack on maneuvering with belt-fed weapons. Suppressive fire is very difficult to achieve with 30 round magazines.
The M249 may not have been ideal, but the answer is a better light machine gun, not abandoning the concept.
