POTD: KAC’s Stoner LAMG – The Light Assault Machine Gun

What happens when you combine Eugene Stoner's legendary design ethos with Knight’s Armament Company’s modern manufacturing? You get the Stoner LAMG (Light Assault Machine Gun), a belt-fed 5.56mm light machine gun that blends lightweight design with controllable, accurate suppressive fire.
The LAMG is said to be light enough to move with an assaulting force. With a low cyclic rate of 575–625 rounds per minute and a constant-recoil, spring run-out operating system, it remains far more controllable than many machine guns, nearly twice its weight.
An integral optic rail, machined directly into the receiver rather than the feed tray cover, ensures consistent and repeatable optics mounting. Standard features include a quick-change barrel, compatibility with M27 linked ammunition, and support for conventional drum-style clip attachments.
The barrel release and lock-up mechanism is located at 12:00 on the receiver, and is protected from accidental activation.

This should have been the squad automatic weapon instead of the over priced, over weight, over gassed, over hyped HK M27.. Like the Sig XM7 and P320 disasters, the US procurement of small arms is run by incompetents..
The same USMC that forced the adoption of the abysmal 3 round burst M16A2 target rifle instead of a true light weight fighting assault rifle. My statement stands.
