Silent Steel USA has formally unveiled its patented FLOW-IQ suppressor technology following the issuance of U.S. Patent No. 12,313,360. Although the system has been used in Silent Steel USA’s products for several years, the new patent marks the first public disclosure of the internal gas-flow architecture and confirms the design as proprietary to the company.

FLOW-IQ differs from traditional baffle-based suppressor systems by using a controlled gas-rotation design, a turbine-and-filter architecture intended to spiral and cool expanding gases while reducing overall backpressure. According to Silent Steel USA, this approach minimizes carbon fouling, increases durability, and provides a consistent suppressed tone without relying on stacked baffles.

This design is claimed to:

  • Significantly reduce toxic blowback
  • Improve felt recoil and shot-to-shot consistency
  • Mitigate muzzle flash and internal heat stress
  • Enable a user-serviceable, modular structure for field maintenance

The company has now integrated FLOW-IQ across its entire Streamer suppressor family, which includes the full-size Streamer, the Compact Streamer, and the Micro Streamer. The three models allow users to prioritize suppression, size, or a balance depending on whether the host platform is a rifle, SBR, or PDW. Silent Steel USA notes that the underlying gas-rotation system remains consistent across all sizes.

Another focus of the system is user serviceability. Each suppressor uses a modular design with tool-free disassembly, allowing shooters to access internal components, clean carbon buildup, and reassemble the unit quickly. Silent Steel USA states that the turbine and gas-filter components are constructed to resist fouling and corrosion to maintain performance under extended use.

With the patent now public and FLOW-IQ incorporated across all Streamer variants, Silent Steel USA now claims they have positioned the system as a long-term design direction for its rifle-caliber suppressor line.
