POTD: Suppressed Heckler & Koch G28 E2 Sniper Rifles in Japan
Deep in the snowy hills of Jūmonjihara Maneuver Area, members of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force’s elite 1st Amphibious Rapid Deployment Regiment are ringing steel with their brand-new sniper rifles. While the rifle is from Germany, the Heckler & Koch G28 in 7.62×51mm, it seems they went to the U.S. for optics. You may notice the gigantic Leupold rifle scope, with sun protection. Strangely enough, they have mounted EOTechs as secondary sights, which is a first time for me.
It appears that these are Hensoldt NSV 1000 XR5 Clip-on Night Visions. The beauty of this setup? Zero re-zeroing drama when the sun drops, and whatever island they’re protecting can remain safe from invaders. Note the different secondary sight on this dive board.
Cold hands, warm tubes, and zero excuses. All in all, it seems Japan got a serious upgrade for their sniper teams.

Forget even a chin weld on that holographic sight. No wonder they need an eotech, it's the only thing with a big enough eye box to find the reticle. Still it's always cool to see what the pros are using.
What a sick setup! Love H&K.
