POTD: Haenel HMR 308 and CR6.5 DMR
These beauties from Germany’s C.G. Haenel were captured for TFB’s Photo Of The Day at the IWA exhibition earlier this year. The Haenel CR6.5 is chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, a medium calibre with a stretched trajectory for those who don’t know. It’s gaining justification both in hunting and sport in Europe as well, and suits Haenel’s new semi-automatic DMR rifle really well. The DMR version in 6.5 Creedmoor runs a 20” barrel, with a 1:8 twist.
The riflescopes are from Steiner.
The technical details for the HMR308 "Marksman" are as follows:
- Calibre: 7,62 x 51 mm (Civil: .308 Win.)
- Barrel length / twist: 16,65“: 423mm, 12“
- Overall length: 16,65“: 901mm – 984mm
- Buttstock: Haenel AR-buttstock with adjustable cheek rest and height-adjustable shoulder rest
- Muzzle brake: A2 standard with QD suppressor mount
- Handguard: Hand guard with two NAR and two M-Lok rails, removable without tools
- Weight: approx. 4,5kg
- Trigger: Haenel precision trigger: Pressure point trigger, adjustable trigger weight (1,200 to 2,000 gr.), adjustable length of travel
- Magazine capacity: 10 rounds
- Safety: ambidextrous safety lever, 0°/60°
I’m pretty sure the HMR308 rifle in the images runs a longer barrel than the specified 18”, but it’s not the first time reality and specification don’t match.
There was also the Haenel CR-series (seen above), as a semi-automatic rifle in either CR223 rear or CR308: https://www.cg-haenel.de/en/products/cr223-cr300-cr65-cr308/
