TFB Behind the Gun #184: The Hypervelocity Rocket w/ Wild Arms

It’s been quite a while since we’ve had a check-in with our resident rocket man, Jonathan Wild, the brains behind Wild Arms Research and Development. Johnny has come a long way since his first projects and attempts at making caseless ammunition, before eventually moving on to DIY replica panzerfausts. What once started off as a hobby and morbid curiosity has turned into full-on historical research, FOIA requests, and lots of spent rocket fuel to produce some of the best books and projects I’ve seen in the DIY space. Today, Johnny will catch us up on what he’s been up to since his last project, the M202 FLASH.

TFB Behind the Gun #184: The Hypervelocity Rocket w/ Wild Arms

On today’s episode of TFB’s Behind the Gun podcast, we welcome back Jonathan Wild from Wild Arms Research and Development to discuss his latest—and fastest—rocket project to date: the Hypervelocity Rocket. Unlike conventional anti-aircraft munitions that rely on explosives, the Hypervelocity Rocket is designed to incapacitate targets through sheer kinetic energy, traveling at speeds exceeding 10,000 feet per second (approximately Mach 9). To bring this project to life, Jonathan has undertaken extensive research, including submitting official Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to uncover details about this once-classified initiative that has remained dormant in sealed government archives for years. In this episode, Jonathan shares his journey through the research, development, and testing of the Hypervelocity Rocket, and gives us a preview of his forthcoming book on the subject.

Still wish y'all would include transcripts with video and podcast posts, some of us grew up watching the subtitled versions, not the dubs, and this guy's work is legit fascinating.

The Mach 5 Pool Cues were always my favorite weapon in A-10 Attack!, whether for tankbusting or shipkilling or air-to-air use. It's hard to beat sniping the engines off an Antonov with HVRs and then tagging the SPGs they were carrying as they drop if the whole plane explodes.

Is this a good choice for PDW/concealed carry? Can I get it in FDE? Pic rail for lights, lasers, etc?? Enquiring minds want to know, and I WANT to believe.
