SK Customs is back at it again, giving us another amazingly embellished firearm tied to a bit of history. The “ Hidalgo” pistol is from the Mexican Independence series and is a limited-edition production run of only 200 Full-Size, Government Model Colt 1911s chambered in the .38 Super cartridge. Each pistol will include a special engraved edition number and will retail for $2,650 as a pre-launch price.

SK Customs 5th Edition of Mexican Independence Series

All of the details on the right-hand side of these pistols illustrate a stylized mural of Hidalgo holding slaves that were saved. Hidalgo’s supporting insurgents fighting for the Abolition of Slavery are also featured. The Mexican Eagle and scroll decorate the front and back of the slide.

The top of the slide touts a portrait of Hidalgo holding the banner with the Virgin Mary (Lady of Guadalupe), a Dove taking flight, and his title of “Padre De La Patria.” Behind the chamber, a stylized Aztec Eagle with sun and broken chain links represents the end to Spain’s occupation.

The frame, slide, barrel, and hardware are all highly polished and feature 24k gold plating of select areas and controls in a deep Colt Royal Blue finish. This historical piece is made complete with Black Pearl Kirinite grips and the iconic Rampant Colt in gold.

A Word from SK Customs on the 5th Edition of Mexican Independence Series

“St. Augustine, Florida - September, 2025 - SK Guns®, the Nation’s only series-driven, limited-edition manufacturer of custom firearms, is proud to announce the fifth installment of the Mexican Independence series. This latest firearm honors Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, a Mexican priest who is regarded as the Father of the Nation.
“Hidalgo’s role in the independence movement emerged from his deep frustration with the injustices faced by the lower classes under Spanish rule, including heavy taxation, land dispossession and racial discrimination,” said Simon Khiabani, owner and founder of SK Guns. “Hidalgo was not just involved in this movement; he was the movement. We realized early on that Hidalgo was the only option to be the culmination of our Mexican independence series.””
