TFB Review: Winchester Supreme W7x24mm Laser Rangefinder
Winchester's been making moves into the optics world with their Supreme Optics line, and I had the opportunity to get some “trigger time” with their W7x24mm laser rangefinder. This is the bigger brother of their two rangefinder offerings, with a claimed 3,000-yard max range and 1,500 yards on game. I got it out to the range for a couple sessions to see what Winchester's rangefinder game looks like. Let's dive right into the Winchester Supreme W7x24mm!
POTD: Indian SSS Defence - British Project Grayburn
India’s SSS Defence has formally confirmed its intent to participate in the UK Ministry of Defence’s Project Grayburn program. The company states that its decision follows successful domestic deliveries and reflects confidence in its current small-arms portfolio. Let’s have a look!
Wheelgun Wednesday: Speed Beez Speed Loader for the S&W 617 10-Shot
If you have been following along over on AllOutdoor, you know I reviewed the S&W 617 Mountain Gun not too long ago and then bought one because I liked it that much. Since last October I have shot it more than any of my other .22 revolvers. Ten shots of .22LR is genuinely fun until you have to reload, and then you are standing there loading ten individual cartridges one by one like it's the 1880s. I had been eyeing the Speed Beez speed loader for the 617 ten-shot for a while and finally grabbed one to see if it was worth it.
S&W Adds Compensated Equalizer to the Performance Center Line
Smith & Wesson just expanded the Equalizer family with a factory-comp version: the Performance Center Equalizer Carry Comp, a 9mm carry gun built on the existing platform with a top barrel port and Performance Center trigger work added.

Mossberg has introduced the 590 Bliksem, a limited-edition 12-gauge pump configured in the "other firearm" format. The model pairs the proven 590 operating system with collaboration branding tied to former 22 SAS operator Christian Craighead and his Ministry of Defence brand.
The Soviet APS Pistol and Its Silent Successor
The story of the Soviet APS pistol begins in the late 1940s with a young designer whose name would become synonymous with Soviet weapon designs and experimentation. Igor Yakovlevich Stechkin, then 26, led development at Tula Central Design Bureau No. 14 and produced the first shop prototype in 1949. Rapid iteration and factory trials followed, and by 1951, the Stechkin Automatic Pistol was accepted into Soviet service. The pace, from concept to adoption in roughly three years, was unusually brisk even by mid-20th-century Soviet standards.
POTD: No Room for Guesswork in Polar Bear Country
This Photo Of The Day contains a very high dose of masculinity. When heading into remote Arctic territory, preparation is not optional. Captain Petr Kos of the 118-year-old polar vessel ANNA selected the CZ 600+ LUX chambered in .30-06 Springfield for his voyage to Svalbard, where carrying a firearm outside settlements is said to be a legal requirement due to the presence of polar bears.

HEVI Savings On Turkey Ammo
It’s that time of year again, when the cold, dry weather of winter turns into the cold, soggy weather of spring. Uh, leaving that cynicism over meteorology aside, it’s also time to get ready for turkey hunting. That means it’s also time to make sure you’ve got the ammo you need for the season, and if you’re looking for savings, HEVI Shot has deals on the shells you need.
Henry Adds More .22 Magnum Options
Henry Repeating Arms is in the middle of a bunch of tweaks to their rifle lineup this winter, and that means more magnums! Specifically, they’re taking two of their long-running rifles, models that are very popular with youth shooters specifically, and making them available in .22 Magnum.
Walker's New Affordable SHOTSYNC Timer
Walker’s has a new shot timer that is a different take on the idea. The SHOTSYNC is a wearable shot timer incorporating both a microphone and an accelerometer to detect shots. That information passes over a Bluetooth link to your phone, where that information is logged and displayed.
Thompson/Center Guns Up For Turkey, Muzzleloader Seasons
Thompson/Center is going full-speed ahead with the reboot of its long gun lineup at the same time that it’s rebooting its Encore ProHunter pistol series. Just before turkey season starts, T/C has a new shotgun barrel option on the market, and as muzzleloader season will be here before you know it (a matter of months for deer hunters, but only weeks away for bear hunters), T/C also has an all-new option for its muzzleloader series. And the new option isn’t exactly your traditional front-stuffer, not even by T/C standards.
TFB Review: 2,500 Rounds On The H&R 635 9mm Subgun
Few guns exude as much 1980s-ness as the Colt Model 635. It was the perfect encapsulation of a timeframe, taking the Vietnam veteran M16 and adapting it for the streets of the cocaine wars. PSA sub-brand Harrington & Richardson has reintroduced the 635 as a pistol with an arm brace, and they sent one to me for review.
POTD: The Swedish Ak4 C With Leonardo DRS Thermal Sight
Frost in the air and pressure in the chest, instructors from the 40th Home Guard Battalion under Sweden’s Western Military Region recently conducted two intensive winter days of refresher training ahead of the upcoming training cycle. Operating in snow-covered terrain, the focus was on maintaining proficiency across weapon systems while adapting to evolving sighting technologies.
The Rimfire Report: Supreme Consistency - ELEY Target 40gr
It's tough to argue these days that we don't have a serious issue in the domestic rimfire market. We just can't seem to crank out truly consistent match-grade .22LR here in the States. Sure, stuff like CCI Green Tag and Federal AutoMatch can hit solid A-tier status in my book, but the undisputed kings of .22LR still hail from just two shops: the UK's ELEY and Finland's Lapua. Today, we're checking out one of ELEY's more wallet-friendly and accessible options - ELEY Target .22LR 40gr.
Target Sports USA Is Putting Ammo in Vending Machines
This is not a joke. Target Sports USA announced plans to deploy ammunition vending machines, which were first shown off at the Great American Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The machines will sell ammo, including rounds from Target Sports USA's own New Republic USA brand, through automated kiosks with built-in security and compliance features.

Thompson/Center Encore ProHunter Pistols Are Back
As Thompson/Center makes its comeback, one thing that longtime fans of the brand wanted to know was: What about the pistols? And after launching (or is that re-launching?) multiple lines of rifles, Thompson/Center has indeed brought back its hunting-oriented handguns as well, with the Encore ProHunter pistol series rebooted.

Good afternoon, everyone, and welcome back to TFB’s Silencer Saturday, brought to you by Yankee Hill Machine, manufacturers of the new Victra 20-gauge shotgun suppressor. A recent story by the New York Times examined the issue of possible blast overpressure injuries from firing guns on indoor shooting ranges. The article briefly touches on one possible way to reduce that risk: silencers. So if you want yet another excuse to buy more suppressors, keep reading, and we will get you set up.

After 16 years of service, the Danish Defense Forces are transitioning from the M/10 to the new GV M/25 C8 MRR. The first rifles are now being issued, including to instructors at the Air Force Sergeant’s School in Karup, who recently took the platform to the range ahead of a new intake of sergeant students. Optics? The Specter.
SAF Wants Another Chance To Fight New Jersey 3D Printing Laws
In one of the most-significant yet most under-the-radar legal battles going on in the U.S. right now, the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) has filed a petition for a rehearing of the Defense Distributed v. Attorney General of New Jersey case. A three-judge Third Circuit panel has recently dismissed this case, but the SAF says there are reasons to reopen it, and they’re doing their best to force this issue back into court.
British Army To Select New Sniper Rifle in 2027

Fudd Friday: Make Combination Guns Great Again!
Of all the news that came out of SHOT Show this year, I was very stoked to see that European American Armory is bringing back affordable combination guns. Maybe, just maybe, we’ll see a renaissance in this underappreciated corner of Fudd world.
The Soviet AO-29 Lightweight GPMG
In the early 1960s, the Soviet military found itself at a crossroads. The recently adopted Kalashnikov PK general-purpose machine gun (GPMG) has solved many problems by easing logistics and supporting a single machine gun type. Still, its adoption also revealed new tactical expectations: a single GPMG was now supposed to fill a variety of roles, such as mounted roles, and be light enough to be carried by every infantry squad. The PK was accepted into service in 1961 and went into full production in 1962. Still, the weight and role tradeoffs of a universal design prompted a fresh round of experimentation aimed at a lighter, more squad-oriented automatic weapon. Simply put, the 19.84 lbs (9 kg) weight of a GPMG was too high for the Soviets, as it was also envisioned at the time to be carried by every infantry squad.
