The New CZ P-10 C Ported - Taking Aim At Muzzle Rise

Performance meets precision, says CZ, as they release their P-10 C Ported. This new development is said to take aim at taming muzzle rise, to give shooters more control and more stability, in combination with a modern look. The barrel is 10% heavier, and ported (it’s in the name!) with a precision-milled crown.

Looking at the slide, it’s got top cocking serrations for enhanced grip, and the sights are luminescent (matching CZ P-09 Nocturne). If you want to run optics, the slide is ready for that as well. Overall, the Ported version keeps the same ergonomics, trigger, and compatibility with standard P-10 C holsters.

A small hole with a big difference? Sign me up for a test shoot and I’ll tell you. But experience tells me it’s going to help, and it would be a joy to spend a few hours on the range and find the right load and cartridge to optimize performance.

For someone who sees a lot of news, it’s almost apparent that all handgun manufacturers seem to have gathered for a secret meeting somewhere, and all decided to launch products with ported barrels at about the same point in time. What do you think of the trend? Are you a “ported” person or not?

I'd love to understand more about the trade-offs in velocity vs the reductions in muzzle rise and/or speed increase in splits.

Velocity reduction will be very minimal. All things being equal, recovery should be faster, therefore speed should increase. Likely the top shooters will see the lowest improvement and lower skill levels will see a greater improvement.

What is mud or other things get in the port?

What if it gets in the other hole in the barrel. This is pretty much a non-issue in real life.
