TFB Review: Aimpoint ACRO C-2
Aimpoint is synonymous with red dot sights. Through the years, their optics have gotten progressively smaller and smaller. From sights like the Aimpoint 3000 to the CompM2 to the T-2, the trend has always been smaller. That pattern continued with the Acro, Aimpoint’s first pistol dot. That enclosed pistol dot has been reinvented into a purpose-built long gun optic with the Acro C-2.

Wheelgun Wednesday: Revolving Carbines - The First Modern Repeaters
If someone asked me what the first modern repeating rifle was, I wouldn’t say the Henry or the Spencer lever guns—I’d tell them it was the Colt Ring Lever Carbine. And while it wasn’t a successful rifle, it set out a pattern for revolving rifles and shotguns that are still around today, even if they still aren’t as popular as they could be, thanks to the limitations of the design.

The Best Suppressor For The AR-15
Suppressors are arguably among the coolest accessories one can buy for an AR-15. They’ll take some crack out of your rifle’s sound signature and, in most cases, reduce felt recoil, both of which are qualities that make shooting more enjoyable. Not to mention, trying to LARP hard without a suppressor is just plain wrong and shouldn’t be tolerated. But which suppressor is the best choice for your AR-15? I’ve accepted the challenge of choosing one can to rule them all, but mostly because I’m a masochist and dream about a comment section rife with abuse for my pick and lectures about how I should have chosen differently due to budget, overall sound reduction, and whatever other reasons make me wrong today. But hey, opinions inspire debate, and that’s how we learn from each other. Isn’t that how the saying about opinions goes?

Extended-Range VOG-25 Grenades for GP Series Grenade Launchers
The invention of the grenade dates back over 1,000 years to the Byzantine Empire in the eighth century. In 1904, during the Russo-Japanese War, grenade resurgence was used to address the evolving combat in trenches and fortifications, and this is where the grenade became a prominent tool of modern warfare. Since then, grenades have evolved significantly, particularly in the desire to throw them farther and increase their lethality.

POTD: The New Austrian Sturmgewehr 77 A1 MOD "Nightfighter" Edition
Photo Of The Day: If you expected the Austrian Army to do like the United Kingdom and procure a few new automatic rifles, you were wrong. As reported before, the Austrians are getting the Sturmgewehr 77 A1 MOD in a "Nightfighter" edition. These images are from when the third Jägerbrigade recently got their upgrades Steyr AUGs. The upgrade is further enhanced by the inclusion of night vision goggles from Theon, significantly improving the units' night vision and reconnaissance capabilities.
State vs Federal Gun Law: What Can We Learn from Taylor Taranto’s Case
The recent case involving Taylor Taranto and his CZ Scorpion firearm has gained nationwide attention due to conflicting enforcement by the District of Columbia (D.C.) in combination with federal enforcement. Today, we’ll take a short look at this situation, how it's being handled by the District and DOJ, and add some speculation as to what might happen down the road, whether that means the DOJ dropping one of the conflicting charges, or hopefully, dropping the case altogether. Let's take a look at what’s happened so far.
Best Optic for the AR-15
Picking one optic to rule them all for the AR-15 has to be one of the more difficult tasks in all of the “top ten” and “best of” articles a gun writer can take on. It’s not that I’m worried about being agreed with because that ship sails the moment you take the job. The challenge comes mostly from a desire to be as helpful as possible while actually committing to an answer other than saying it comes down to personal preference. Further exasperating the issue is that categories of optics alone can be a hotly contested debate, much less the optics themselves. As I rip off that best optic for the AR-15 bandaid and stare death in the face, I quote a writer much better than I when I say, “Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more…”
SCOTUS Rejects New York Gun Law Challenge
On April 7, the United States Supreme Court rejected a petition to hear Antonyuk v. James, a challenge to New York gun restrictions that are generally seen as retaliatory measures by the state in response to the High Court’s landmark 2022 ruling in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen.
TFB Review: Springfield Armory Kuna 9mm PDW Pistol
My 2025 bingo card did not have a roller-delayed PDW coming out of the factories of Springfield Armory, but here we are! Springfield Armory has had a decades-long legacy of manufacturing small arms, such as the 1911, M1A, AR-15, Hi-Power, and more. Now we have something befitting a James Bond movie or Secret Service detail in the Kuna 9mm pistol. Follow me through my journey of reviewing this firearm in preparation for its announcement today. Let’s dive in!

It is officially in the US! The Springfield Armory Kuna 9mm
Many of you saw our very own James Reeves galavanting around Europe on TFBTV, and coming across the Kuna: a 9mm roller-delayed pistol. Now, the Springfield Armory Kuna 9mm is officially stateside in the US, and looks to be a true contender in the PCC space for 9mm shooters and range enthusiasts alike.

TFB Review: Cimarron 1887 Lever Action Terminator Shotgun
With 2024 certainly being the year of the lever-action rifle, it only seems natural this trend will keep on trucking into 2025. While many of the big brands are releasing all kinds of updated or completely new lever-action rifles and pistols, there is still somehow a corner of this market the gun industry seems reluctant to slap m-lock rails and red dots on and promote. I’m of course talking about the Lever Action Shotgun.
POTD: The Delta Optics Stryker HD 3.5-21x44 FFP Riflescope
Let’s have a look at the Delta Optical Stryker HD 3.5-21x44 FFP Riflescope. This is not a review, just a few images to admire a pretty sweet configuration and optic on a Ruger Precision Rifle. I really like the look of this riflescope, and it’s probably how they shaped the area around the 44 mm objective lens that attracts me.
The Rimfire Report: A Retrospective on the KelTec P17 Pistol
Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report. This ongoing series is all about rimfire guns, their history, the ammo we use, and, of course, reviews on both new, old, and obscure rimfire firearms. An example of this is today’s subject - the KelTec P17. First introduced after I had become a contributor here at TFB, the KelTec P17 is one of the first of what I consider to be the “new breed’ of rimfire pistols. This new breed mostly consists of examples that have a heavier focus on “fun” rather than strictly being target pistols like the tried and true Ruger MK series, Browning Buckmark, and S&W Victory pistols. Unlike those guns, the P17 was meant to be a super-light, super-affordable, and easy-to-adapt pistol. Initially showcased at my first SHOT Show (2020), today we’ll look at what’s become of the KelTec P17, and a few of my thoughts on the compact plinker itself.
Bond Arms Introduces A Hideout Gun With Presidential Bling
Have you ever thought that you needed a hideout gun that bedazzles your opponent with presidential bling, giving you the advantage in a firefight? Sounds like a niche market, for sure, but apparently Bond Arms figures there’s a buyer for such a weapon, and has introduced the DT47 Satin Package version of their double-barrel derringer platform.
The Lantac SOL - Sight On Laser For The EOTech OGL
The new and patent pending SOL (Sight On Laser) was developed to address rail space limitations when integrating backup sights with Laser Illuminators or Laser Aiming Modules (LAMs). It is purpose-built to mount directly to the EOTech OGL. The OGL is a prime candidate for the application, thanks to its robust aluminum chassis and four T10 Torx head screws that secure the lens covers. These fasteners provide a stable and reliable mounting point for a backup front sight.
March NICS Numbers Show Continuing Slide
How’s the firearms industry faring in these wild financial times? There’s one metric that we can use as a rough guide to sales numbers in the United States: the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). According to the NICS numbers for March, sales are not as strong for the month as they were the past few years at the same time—but retailers are still selling a pile of guns.

Silencer Saturday #376: The Curious (Legal) Case Of George Peterson
Good afternoon, everyone, and welcome back to TFB’s Silencer Saturday, brought to you by Yankee Hill Machine, manufacturers of the new Victra-12 shotgun suppressor. This week, we are looking at a criminal case involving an unregistered silencer. While that may sound like a run-of-the-mill case, it led to an interesting appellate court decision and a very intriguing signal for future policy changes.
TFB Review: Strike Industries Hexion Tech Seeker Red Dot Sight
As a guy who’s been shooting iron sights on handguns since the mid-’90s, it took me a while to adapt to pistol-mounted optics. This was due to procrastination and resistance to putting in the time it takes to adjust. But all these high-speed heroes couldn’t be wrong, so I wound up spending countless hours in the living room drawing and dry firing at characters on the television screen until I could pick up that dot quickly and consistently, subliminally convincing Becky of my deep-seated distaste for the housewives of whatever city she happened to be watching that day. In time, I started to prefer shooting with an optic, as being target-focused made more sense to me, and everything started moving a little faster. Great, now I want a dot on all my handguns and those that come in for review. Do you see where I’m going here? This can add up quickly. That’s where the Hexion Tech Seeker comes in and does so at an MSRP of $99.95.
Fudd Friday: Harrington & Richardson Just Don't Get No Respect
Most people would more-or-less agree on the names of the great American gunmakers. Remington, Winchester, Colt, Browning, Smith & Wesson and Savage if you’re talking about the true pioneers of modern mass firearms manufacturing. Ruger and Mossberg if you want to add a couple who joined in the 20th century. But there’s one company with a history that stretches all the way back to the 1870s, building designs that survived for more than 100 years. That company is Harrington & Richardson, aka H&R, and it’s a company that deserves more respect—especially for its single-shot rifles and shotguns.
The HK 75th Anniversary Limited Edition Knife
The fact that Heckler & Koch is celebrating 75 years may have escaped some, but their HK 75th Anniversary Limited Edition Knife is now available for everyone. In short, it features a hand-forged Damascus steel blade from Böker, with each knife individually engraved and numbered from 1 to 75. Only 75 of these knives will ever be made (I wonder where they got that number from?).
The New Mimic Speed9 - 60 Round Submachine Gun
Every now and then, we get to experience new ideas in the firearms industry, and I think this is one of those moments. Introducing the Mimic Speed9, with a patent pending 60-round, double direction 9x19mm magazine designed with the same dimensions as a standard AR-15 magazine, allowing it to fit familiar platforms and standard mag pouches.
Smith & Wesson Model 1854 Now Available In .45-70
Smith & Wesson has announced an addition to its Model 1854 series with two new variants chambered in bone-crushing .45-70 Government. The Model 1854 combines classic American lever gun aesthetics with enhancements to meet the needs of modern shooters. While the Model 1854 has been available in .44 Rem Mag, .45 Colt, and .357 Magnum, .45-70 is a welcome addition as you never know when you’ll run into an angry tyrannosaurus rex in the backcountry. Seriously, .45-70 means business.
GP Series Silent Launched VOG-25 Grenades
The Soviet Union and Russia have a long history of developing and utilizing suppressed weapon systems. Various suppressed weapons, including Kalashnikov rifles, machine guns, and even silent mortar systems, are currently in service. The first Soviet silent grenade launchers were the Tishina and the Canary. These systems used a special blank cartridge to propel a piston that launched a grenade, significantly reducing the sound generated upon firing.
