SIG P320-XFIVE DH3: Daniel Horner's Competition-Tactical Crossover
SIG handed the P320 platform to Daniel Horner and told him to build something that works on a shot timer and a nightstand. The result is the P320-XFIVE DH3, a competition-weight 9mm that keeps enough tactical hardware to pull double duty.
Horner, for those unfamiliar, is one of the most decorated competitive shooters in the country. He's been running with Team SIG for years, and the "DH3" designation is his signature on the project. This isn't a marketing skin over a stock gun. The spec sheet reflects somebody who actually shoots these things under pressure.
What Makes It Different
The big story is the TXG grip module. It's a tungsten-infused polymer frame that pushes the gun to 43.5 ounces unloaded. That's heavy for a striker-fired pistol, and that's the point. More weight on target means less muzzle rise, faster splits, and a pistol that tracks flat during strings of fire. SIG finished the grip in Coyote Tan Cerakote and applied silicon carbide to the surface for aggressive texture. If you've handled a skateboard-tape grip job before, the idea is the same, just factory-applied.
Up top, the slide is optic-ready with a stylized profile and lightening cuts. SIG ships it with X-RAY3 suppressor-height day/night sights that co-witness with a mounted optic. That's a practical decision, not a competition-only feature. If you're running a dot, you still want irons you can pick up when the electronics fail. The suppressor height clears the optic housing.
The barrel is a 5-inch match-grade bull barrel with a one-piece stainless steel guide rod. SIG includes both 14-pound and 12-pound 1911-style recoil springs in the box, so you can tune the action to your preferred load. Lighter spring for lighter competition ammo, heavier spring for duty-weight rounds. It's a small detail, but it signals that SIG expects this gun to live in more than one context.
No manual safety. Three 21-round steel magazines in the box. Skeletonized flat trigger.
The Competition-Tactical Question
The XFIVE line has always sat in an interesting spot in SIG's catalog. The original XFIVE Legion introduced the TXG concept back in 2019, and it immediately became a favorite among USPSA and Steel Challenge shooters who didn't want to run a 2011. The DH3 takes that formula and tilts it slightly toward practical use with the suppressor-height sights, the optics-ready slide, and the dual-spring setup.
Whether that crossover actually works depends on what you need. At 43.5 ounces, this is not a carry gun. It's a range gun and a nightstand gun that happens to be built by somebody who wins matches with it. That's a specific niche, but it's a real one.

"I JUST F*&*ING SHOT MY SELF!"
Now you can look very tacticool and competitive while it removes your femur. Outside the range and competition, because they banned you and your gun from entering.
