ZEISS Conquest Apia 65: Compact Spotting Scope at $1,499
ZEISS has announced the Conquest Apia 20-50x65, a compact angled spotting scope aimed at hunters and shooters who prioritize portability without giving up optical performance. The scope weighs 47.6 ounces and measures 11.7 inches in length, with a retail price of $1,499.99.
Zeiss Optics @ TFB:
The Conquest Apia 65 uses a 65mm objective lens with ED glass and aspheric lenses, delivering 87% light transmission across its 20-50x zoom range. Field of view runs from 144 feet at 20x down to 81 feet at 50x, measured at 1,000 yards. Eye relief is set at 17mm, and the close focus distance is 11.5 feet, making it usable at short range as well as distance.
"With years of experience creating the best-in-class optical excellence, we approached the compact spotter category with the same dedication to functionality, quality, and overall precision," said Kyle Brown, Director of Marketing and Product at ZEISS. "The result is a spotter built to go with you on every backcountry pursuit and outdoor adventure, delivering clarity, minimal weight, and the versatility today's mobile hunter demands. This is a spotting scope hunters and shooters will actually want to take with them. It's truly backpack ready!"
The scope includes a removable eyepiece, an integrated retractable sunshade, and a built-in Arca-Swiss mount for direct tripod attachment. ZEISS notes compatibility with its Pro-Series Tripod Kits. A stay-on soft case is available separately for $149.99.
For anyone looking to buy a spotting scope of this kind of quality, I can really recommend getting a protective cover for it.

The built-in Arca-Swiss mount is a practical touch for field use. Is that the kind of feature that influences your buying decision on a spotting scope?
