Green Light Sights - New Handgun Aiming System
Green Light Sights, a company from Grants Pass, Oregon, has developed a new aiming system for handguns. Their products are lenticular plates that are attached to the rear of the pistol slides. At average self-defence distances, when the pistol is not aligned with the target to make a center mass hit, the plate has a white color; however, as soon as your eye, barrel and target align, the plate turns green. The idea is to allow you to focus on the target and not worry about blurry sights, as you should be able to detect the rather large plate changing its color, even if it's out of focus. The result should be a quicker first shot that is accurate enough for a self-defense situation.
This short video demonstrates how the Green Light Sights system works:
Currently, there are three versions of Green Light Sights available. Below you can find the pictures and manufacturer descriptions of each model. The model names are linked to the product pages on the company’s website, where you can find more detailed descriptions of each model, installation instructions and lists of compatibility with different pistols.
Want to use our sights, but need a more cost friendly option? Consider our adhesive sights. The sights are backed with 3M industrial tape so they won’t come off without a lot of force. Advantages: Less expensive. Large size is easier to see. Disadvantages: No housing to protect the optic. To access the back plate, you will have to remove the optic and the adhesive won’t work twice (but how often do you remove a slide’s backplate…). Clean gently with a microfiber cloth.
Our full sized snap in sight is the largest sight we make. It takes about 15-30 seconds to remove the optic from your gun to field strip it. If you want to be able to leave the optic on all the time, consider either our adhesive backed or Tactical versions.
Tactical Version are ~1/2 the size of the full size optics. Unlike the full sized optics, you can field strip your gun (remove your slide) without removing the optic. These feature our snap in optic system (no screws).
Pretty interesting new aiming concept, isn’t it? I guess it may take some time to get used to it, but if it works as advertised, it can make a difference in a self-defense situation. Let us know in the comments section what you think about the Green Light Sights.

For 200. I can get a decent Red Dot that will be usable at distance greater than 20 feet.
I get recouping R&D costs but it's a piece of funky velcro that turns green when parallel with the ground. $15-20 at most. It's kind of cringe, too. "I got a green sticker, guys! It works to 20 feet! When it turns green I just start blastin!" So does blind firing with a stendo or just lining up the tritium. I wish them well, but if they don't slash their prices their chinese competition will undercut them if the product has any success at all. Go to ebay and find some really cheap unity and gbrs knockoff mounts for 10% the american price with the same materials and tolerances. You have to compete against your future rivals so your customers keep coming back to you and not the wanna be's. Also if it's cheap and you like it you can buy one for all your guns and make it part of your training cycle. If you can only put it on one gun there's no use training with it and learning the system unless it's the only gun you train with. But it's new and innovative and I'm happy with that.
