Reflex & Iron Sight Hybrid - The TrueAim Active Iron Sights

A company called TrueAim Sights has developed a pretty interesting handgun aiming system that sort of blends the iron sights with reflex sights. The TrueAim Active Iron Sights consist of a rear iron sight with a built-in green diode and a front iron sight with a built-in light-reflecting element. As soon as the sights and your eye are aligned, you'll see the green light reflected from the front sight; otherwise, the front sight insert will appear white/transparent. The company describes this product as a reflective green dot in an iron sight form factor.

Handgun Sights @ TFB:

The TrueAim Active Iron Sights are built with metal components and advertised as being more durable than reflex sights due to the lack of lenses. As shown in the picture above, these sights also feature adjustable brightness of the diode as well as an adjustable angle of the front sight.

The battery life is said to be long, although not specified how long, and the sight has a shake awake feature where the electronics turn on when a motion is detected and turn off when the firearm is motionless for a certain period of time, to conserve the battery life. If the diode gets blocked by dirt and debris or the battery dies, you'll still have regular iron sights.

The TrueAim Active Iron Sights will initially be available for Glock pistols and 1911s. The MSRP of the Glock set will be $295. To be notified about the availability of the TrueAim Active Iron Sights, visit the company's website and subscribe to their newsletter.

TrueAim Sights will be exhibiting at SHOT Show 2026 and we will, of course, make sure to visit their booth and tell you more about this interesting new aiming system.

Even if it was a good system and I don't know that it is or isn't, the price is absolutely ridiculous. The real life street price will have to be significantly less than the MSRP for it to have any chance of being successful.

If they can get it to mount in the rear site factory groove, it is a cheaper alternative to milling old slides and buying red dots. But yeah, this thing needs to be closer to $200 to crush it.

My concern is this, while you're wasting time trying to find the green light for that perfect shot, your adversary is busy drilling you with a half dozen rounds.
