TFB Review: The CZ P10C Ported
Welcome back to another TFB review. The CZ line of pistols has had a number of new models released in the last few months. From the Shadow 2 Carry to the new P10C ported, CZ has been expanding their model variants in an effort to offer different options for customers. For a while now, there was a stereotype of CZ pistols being for people with edgy personalities. The type that dresses trendy, drinks nonfat lattes and wants something interesting instead of a run-of-the-mill Glock. CZ has started offering new model variants in an effort to make their duty-style handguns more mainstream. Let's take a closer look at the CZ P10C Ported.
Specs
When it comes to the ported variant of the P10C, CZ took the best part of their standard P10C models and made it even better with a large open top single port. CZ put an open top port at the end of their P10C to reduce muzzle rise, creating a flatter shooting, as well as a more controllable gun. That wasn't the only thing that was changed from the standard P10C variant; CZ also made the ported barrel 10% heavier in order to add rigidity and reduce felt recoil while offering a cold hammer forged barrel for added barrel longevity and durability.
The P10C Ported also comes with extended slide serrations that are on the front as well as the top of the slide for easier grip when racking the pistol. CZ also used the sights from their P09 nocturne for easier sight picture and improved visibility. Every ported model is also optics-ready with their plate system from the regular P10C series, allowing for any major manufacturer red dot sight to be attached to their gun. I tested the trigger weight on the P10C Ported, which is a striker-fired system, and had an average of 5.5lbs for each trigger pull with a crisp reset and defined wall. Each model comes standard with two 15-round magazines, a cleaning brush, and a hard case. The MSRP of the CZ P10C Ported is $699.99 and is available at gun shops currently.

Range Time
I have had the original P10C for roughly 7 years now and I’ve always thought of it as a refined Glock with a more ergonomic grip and slightly smoother trigger from the factory. Having an optics-ready model also helps attach your desired optic without having to send the slide off to get cut. One of the small details that I immediately found nicer was the extended slide serrations that make it really easy to quickly rack the slide from both the front and rear of the slide. The big change though, is clearly the open top porting where you can immediately feel the difference.
Muzzle rise is significantly reduced, allowing for faster follow-up shots without having a heavy comp hanging off the end of the pistol. You will also get the occasional fireball from the open top comp, which makes the P10C feel like it's more of an event to shoot. It certainly adds to the experience and I am 100% there for it. It's a handgun that is not only really easy to shoot, but it also puts a smile on my face. Other smaller details make this gun feel much more refined than its original P10C brother, like the crowned barrel and upgraded Nocturne sights. They may be small changes, but they make this P10C feel more refined and better than the previous versions.
The trigger, along with the open top comp, makes this gun very gentle and easy to shoot quickly. On average, I was about four-tenths of a second faster shooting Bill drills as well as the Mozambique drill. It may not seem like a huge difference, but shooting half a second faster between two of the same guns is a big indicator of how the new model performs. The new P10C isn't drastically different from the original model, but the open top comp in conjunction with the extended slide serrations makes it a much more refined and enjoyable gun to shoot at the range compared to the original model.
Carrying The P10C
When it comes to carrying the P10C Ported variant, it's very similar to the original model. I already went over the other changes CZ made to this handgun, but as a general rule, when it comes to carrying this gun, they are almost identical. Most of the standard P10C holsters and accessories will fit the ported variant with no issues, but I can't say 100% of all products will fit just because I can't test everything.
With everything I have tested, though, the two models are interchangeable, which is a plus if you already have a standard P10C holster. The thinner grip and contoured slide allow for a thinner holster, which makes for an incredibly comfortable carry without having to go with a smaller subcompact or micro carry option. If you are looking for a handgun similar to the Glock 19 with better ergonomics and a factory open top comp, this P10C Ported is the choice for you.
Overall Thoughts
I have always been a fan of the P10C in its standard configuration but this ported variant really does make a difference. The open top porting makes the gun have significantly less muzzle flip, but it also has small upgrades that collectively make this model of the P10C fairly special. I really like the new iron sights they took from the P-09 Nocturne as well as the extra serrations to charge the handgun. It's not needed, but it's certainly a nice touch that makes it a better package for the end user.
