Sierra Bullets 2026 New Product Lineup & Updated Varmint Bullet Lines
Sierra Bullets has announced its 2026 new product lineup, with availability beginning in early 2026 through stocking dealers, major sporting goods retailers, online sellers, and SierraBullets.com. In addition to the upcoming catalog of new bullets, Sierra is implementing a notable update to two of its best-known varmint lines, not in performance, but in name.
Sierra’s long-running Varminter line will transition to Sierra VarmintKing, while the BlitzKing family will be reclassified under the new Sierra Tipped VarmintKing designation. According to Sierra, nothing about the bullets themselves is changing. The designs, materials, accuracy standards, and on-target performance remain exactly the same as the projectiles shooters have relied on for decades. The shift is strictly a branding update intended to bring product families in line with Sierra’s current naming conventions.
The company says the goal is clarity: reinforcing the “King’’ nomenclature already associated with Sierra’s rifle products while making bullet categories and features easier for customers to identify at a glance. The rollout is scheduled for early January, and packaging will begin reflecting the new names as shipments transition.
In the press release, Sierra says the shift toward new heavy-for-caliber and high-BC products comes straight from shooter input: “Throughout 2024 and early 2025, we have been listening to the valuable feedback of our customers and consumers. Sierra has been focused on high ballistic coefficient (“BC”), heavy-for-caliber offerings and expanding our family offerings,” said Andrew Sparks, VP of Marketing & Business Development. “We have heard our consumer base loud and clear and are excited to deliver what they’ve been shouting for.”
Here’s a substantial list of Sierra’s new bullet offerings:
“Tipped VarmintKing™
For rifles, these bullets are designed for explosive expansion in varmints and small game and with accuracy characteristics of MatchKing® bullets. The nose tips of these bullets are made of a proprietary acetyl resin compound, and the sharp tips improve the ballistic coefficient over the traditional flatbase spitzer bullet design. This bullet has a boat tail to further increase the ballistic coefficient. The jackets are thin for enhanced accuracy and explosive expansion but are capable of withstanding high velocities.
Offerings:

Tipped GameKing®
These are hunting bullets with the perfect combination of Sierra’s legendary match accuracy coupled with deadly penetration. Sierra re-engineered its legendary MatchKing hollow point bullet into a polymer green tipped design for quick expansion and ballistic uniformity. Inside, the TGK features a unique construction that utilizes a special lead alloy surrounded by a tough copper jacket that delivers excellent penetration and expansion at a variety of ranges.

MatchKing®
This is the classification for Sierra’s pre-eminent target bullets. The driving motivation for the design of each MatchKing bullet is accuracy. These bullets have very thin jackets drawn to an exacting concentricity standard of 0.0003 in maximum variation, and their weight is held to within ± 0.3 grain. All MatchKing have a hollow point design with a very small meplat for high ballistic coefficient. The majority of these bullets have a boat tail shape to further minimize drag and improve ballistic coefficient. They are manufactured to the very highest quality standards. Their accuracy has been acclaimed worldwide, and they have been used to win more target competitions than all target bullets from other manufacturers combined. While they are recognized around the world for record-setting accuracy, MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications.
Offerings:
- 6MM 105gr - 100 pack (SKU 1565), 500 pack (SKU 1565C)
MatchKing-X™
Engineered for reliable expansion at midrange velocities, the MKX delivers match-grade accuracy in a true hunting bullet. With a high ballistic coefficient, it mirrors the performance of its MatchKing counterpart in flight, while providing the terminal performance hunters demand. From ringing steel to taking game, the MKX does not sacrifice precision for performance.
Offerings:
- 22 cal 77gr - 100 pack (SKU 9380), 500 pack (SKU 9380C)
Pro-Hunter®
All bullet shapes in this classification are flat base, and they include round nose (RN), semi-pointed (SMP), spitzer-pointed (SPT), flat nose (FN), and with a hollow point (HP/FN). A few bullets in this category have Sierra’s proprietary Power Jacket to enhance bullet expansion in game animals when fired from medium-velocity cartridges. All these bullets have medium to heavy weights in each caliber, and they are designed for a combination of penetration and expansion in medium and heavy game animals for their calibers.
Offering:
- 40 cal 200gr (optimized for 400 Legend) - 100 pack (SKU 3100)”
For precision shooting and competition with my .223 rifles, I’ve been relying heavily on the 69-grain Sierra Match King, and it has my recommendations.
