The smallbore target rifles for sale on the CMP site are from military competition and ROTC training units. These guns were usually fitted with diopter sights, or occasionally magnified optics. And while these may not be guns you would expect to see at an NRL22 match, each has earned a reputation for accuracy.
Here are the various models available as of writing:
- Remington 40X (no sights) $700
- Winchester 52B (may have sights) $900
- Winchester 52C (no sights) $850
- Winchester 52D (no sights) $850
- Kimber 82G (with sights) $600
- Kimber 82G (without sights) $550
- H&R M12 (with sights) $600
- H&R M12 (without sights) $550
All models include a free 500-round brick of surplus .22 ammo. Shipping is $35 per rifle.
In other news, the CMP continues to offer more reclaimed M1 Garand receivers. These were saved from nonfunctional status and brought back into service by the talented gunsmiths of the CMP. Options include a barrelled receiver with bolt for $500 (in either .30-06 or .308), or a stripped receiver alone for $275-$325, depending on condition.
The update also teased upcoming reclaimed 1903 and 1903A3 Springfield rifles. No details were provided for those rifles, though.
From the CMP:
“CMP RECLAIMED BARRELED RECEIVERS
Mixed manufacturer barreled receivers, re-machined to original specs with new commercial barrels professionally installed and headspaced to the included bolt. Cosmetic condition is good to very good, with minor weld marks primarily below the wood line. These receivers have been “Dual Field Magnetic Particle Inspected” and all have passed ASTM 1444E magnetic particle inspection and are safe to fire. Online and mail orders are luck of the draw, sold as-is, no refunds or exchanges. Available in .30-06 and .308.
Note: Barreled Receivers are not sorted by manufacturer and will be distributed randomly—no special requests will be accepted. All orders will be shipped via FedEx Priority Overnight and will require an adult signature upon delivery. Barreled Receivers will count toward your 2025 annual limit, and all state laws and regulations will be followed."
