Ruger has rolled out fresh updates to its 77/44 bolt-action rifle lineup, bringing new finishes and camo patterns to a platform already known for its rugged reliability. These new models (7426, 7427, and 7428) cater to shooters who value versatility, precision, and durability in a compact, hard-hitting package chambered in .44 Rem Magnum. Each configuration offers distinct aesthetics and materials while retaining the core features that make the 77/44 a favorite for hunters and enthusiasts.

Ruger 77s @ TFB:

The Model 7426 sports a brushed stainless finish paired with a synthetic stock in the Desolve Bare Reduced camo pattern, ideal for blending into varied environments while resisting corrosion. Price: $1,279.

The Model 7427, built from alloy steel with a blued finish, features a Kryptek Obskura Nox camo stock for a modern, tactical look. The price is $1,249. I’m thinking this one would look great with a suppressor, in a similar finish. Am I right?

For those who prefer a classic touch, the Model 7428 combines a blued alloy steel build with a timeless American walnut stock. Is Walnut still in fashion? With the Model 7428, you, as a customer, have the choice. The price is $1,239.

The cold hammer-forged barrel, complete with a factory-installed thread protector, features ultra-precise rifling for exceptional accuracy and long-term durability. The 77 has a stainless steel bolt with a 90-degree throw and rapid lock time, ensuring smooth cycling and consistent performance. The detachable rotary magazine is said to use a unique rotor to separate cartridges for reliable feeding and sits flush with the stock to maintain balance and eliminate snags.

Ruger’s integral scope mounts, machined directly into the solid-steel receiver, provide a rock-solid platform for the included scope rings, reducing the risk of looseness. The three-position safety is another practical touch, allowing shooters to lock the bolt while loading or unloading with the safety engaged, adding an extra layer of security in the field. Sling swivel studs round out the package, making these rifles ready for long treks.

Now if they'll bring back the 77/22...

I had one of these years ago, and even after modding the magazine to accept longer length cartridges, the heavy spire points that shot REALLY well had to be singly loaded. My buddy that I sold it to has had good luck with heavy tempered LFNs in used LeveRevolution fired cases with one of the newer propellents...good enough that he won't sell it back to me.
