FALCO Holsters has announced a significant upgrade to its Kydex Duty Holster lineup, introducing a completely redesigned safety hood. This new mechanism enhances user safety and operational speed by repositioning the thumb-activated release button for smoother, faster draws and adding a protective shroud to prevent accidental release. FALCO’s Redesigned Duty Holsters Boost Safety with New Hood System

October 16, 2025 – FALCO® Holsters has announced a major redesign of its Kydex Duty Holsters equipped with safety hoods. The update replaces the company’s previous hood system with a new, modernized mechanism engineered to enhance both safety and operational speed.
Redesigned Safety Hood System
The decision to retire the original hood design stemmed from FALCO’s commitment to continuous improvement and user safety. The new safety hood maintains the same spring-loaded function as its predecessor but introduces a range of ergonomic and functional upgrades for duty professionals who depend on flawless gear performance.
The thumb-activated release button has been repositioned for a more natural and ergonomic reach, significantly improving draw speed under stress. The button now features tighter serrations for enhanced traction and control in all weather conditions, while a new protective shroud shields it from accidental activation, unauthorized use, or impact.
On the outer side, the hood's hinge sits behind the plastic cover to ensure reliable function even when the holster comes into contact with rough surfaces or obstacles during active duty. The hood’s new squared profile accommodates modern open reflex sights up to 1.18″ in height, delivering demanded compatibility with contemporary law enforcement and tactical optics.
“Safety, innovation, and reliable performance are the foundation of every holster we make,” said Robert Kováč, CEO of FALCO Holsters. “Our redesigned safety hood system improves all three of these key principles. The feedback from professionals who depend on our holsters every day guided this evolution, and we are proud to offer a solution that enhances both confidence and performance in the field.”
Ongoing Commitment to Improvement
The new safety hood system is now standard across all FALCO Kydex Duty Holsters and available to order immediately. The redesign does not affect the retail price. The upgrade has been implemented at no additional cost to customers. Each Kydex holster is handcrafted from genuine U.S. Kydex by skilled European craftsmen, combining modern thermoforming with FALCO’s signature attention to detail and custom-fit.

FALCO’s upgraded Kydex Duty Holsters start at about $130 for low-ride OWB models and go up to around $230 for Level II duty and tactical drop-leg holsters. Despite the major redesign, pricing remains the same, making these premium, handcrafted holsters an excellent value for law enforcement and tactical users alike. Every holster is custom molded in Slovakia from U.S. Kydex and covered by a lifetime warranty, ensuring reliability and user confidence in critical situations.
