Photo Of The Day and we examine the Steyr DMR 762, as shown in Zero Compromise Optics’ booth at IWA 2025. The optics is the ZC210, with the DMR reticle which was designed in cooperation with advisors from active-duty Austrian Special Forces.

The Steyr DMR is purpose-built to fill the role of a true Designated Marksman Rifle, slotting neatly between the standard infantry rifle and full-blown sniper systems. Chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, it is said to deliver consistent sub-MOA accuracy at 100 meters with match-grade ammunition and maintains effective combat performance out to 800 meters. For suppressive fire or area denial, the rifle stretches its reach to 1,000 meters.

At its core is a short-stroke gas piston system with a quick-adjust gas regulator, ideal for suppressed use or adapting to adverse environmental conditions. The rifle’s modular upper and handguard system allows users to quickly attach and detach mission-specific accessories, with repeatable precision. The full-length Picatinny rail up top and fully M-LOK-compatible handguard offer ample space for optics, lasers, lights, or bipods—all while keeping weight down.

Designed with military and law enforcement needs in mind, the DMR 762 is equally effective in urban and long-range engagements. The folding stock enhances portability for CQB scenarios or rapid deployment, while compatibility with a wide range of standard 7.62 NATO ammunition ensures versatility without sacrificing precision.

Durability comes standard. The cold-hammer-forged barrel, along with a corrosion- and impact-resistant finish on the 70-series aluminum receivers and handguard, promises long service life under harsh conditions.

In Germany, the price is around €4,790.

The Steyr booth nearby had some interesting rifles on display as well, so consider them a bonus. The SSG M1 in 338 Lapua Magnum can be seen in the middle.

And the HS .50-M1 above.
