POTD: Doug E. Signing Off & Eye Candy From The USS Alabama
Sadly, this will be my final post with TFB. It’s hard to believe it’s been seven years, but my family has had some big life changes over the last couple of years that have required more of my time. I will always cherish my time with The Firearm Blog, my fellow writers and the editors, and you, the faithful readers! Although I’m leaving as a writer, this is not goodbye; I’ll still be reading TFB every day and commenting here and there. I’ll also be available on Instagram @battleshipgrey61, or on Reddit @ u/battleshipgrey61.
If you can’t tell by the previous sentence, I kind of enjoy battleships (and any warship in general), so I’ll leave you with some photos from my trip to the USS Alabama (BB60) for this Photo of the Day. If you have the opportunity to visit her, I highly recommend it. Visitors are able to climb into the 16-inch gun turrets as well as the 5-inch armored mounts, and jump onto the 40mm Bofors anti-aircraft batteries, or strap into the 20mm Oerlikon guns. The museum also documents small arms kept aboard, and what life under way would’ve been like on a day-to-day basis.
Naturally, this is only a slight taste of all that there is to see on the USS Alabama. You can visit the museum’s website at USSAlabama.com to plan your own trip. Let us know in the comment section if you’ve visited BB60 or any other museum ships and how your experience was.

I live about 35 minutes away in Florida and we try to go every couple of years to keep up with the newly acquired items in the museums.
Best of luck with your next endeavor!
