POTD: CZ BREN 3 in 300 AAC Blackout SR
Today’s Photo of the Day highlights the CZ BREN 3 chambered in 300 AAC Blackout in its short‑barrel SR configuration. This newest generation of the BREN family continues CZ’s move toward a lighter, more compact, and fully modular service rifle platform. The 300 Blackout version is designed with suppressed performance in mind, combining a short‑stroke gas piston with a three‑position adjustable gas system that allows the rifle to be tuned for subsonic ammunition and demanding field conditions. This version includes a suppressor from A-Tec.
The 7‑inch barrel is chrome-lined for long service life. The receiver is made of 7075‑T6 aluminum. The total weight without a magazine is 3.6 kg. There’s also a 9” version.
Controls are fully ambidextrous, including the 45‑degree safety selector, dual-sided non‑reciprocating charging handles, and an internal bolt catch and release located inside the trigger guard. The trigger is configured to offer a smooth pull and short reset suitable for both semi‑automatic and select‑fire use.
The BREN 3’s modular handguard options (ranging from M‑LOK to full-railed configurations) allow the user to tailor the rifle to specific roles, while the folding, adjustable stock provides flexibility in confined environments or vehicle-based operations. In its Blackout SR form, the rifle is aimed at missions where compact dimensions, reduced signature, and reliable suppressed operation are priorities, continuing CZ’s incremental evolution of its military rifle line.
