Palmetto State Armory Releases the Olcan Bullpup JAKL Rifle
Palmetto State Armory has officially released the Olcan, a long-anticipated bullpup variant of the JAKL rifle chambered in 5.56 NATO or .300 AAC Blackout. Built around a 6105 monolithic rifle-length upper receiver, the Olcan relocates the JAKL’s fully captured buffer system into the upper, allowing for its compact bullpup layout while maintaining the platform’s rigidity and operating characteristics.
The new bullpup lower provides ambidextrous magazine release controls and significantly reduces overall length compared to a conventional layout. PSA equips the rifle with a pinned and welded SilencerCo ASR flash hider and the Die Free Co Kung Fu pistol grip, all finished in black hardcoat anodizing.
Internally, the Olcan keeps the JAKL family’s long-stroke piston system. The bolt is made from Carpenter 158 steel and the carrier from 4340, creating what PSA describes as a hybrid between AR and AK operating elements. The knurled JAKL side-charging handle is ambidextrous and can be swapped to either side without tools.
Gas adjustments are handled by a toolless 8-position gas block, enabling quick changes by hand in the field. Disassembly of the carrier, recoil assembly, and sled assembly can also be performed without tools.
The included SilencerCo ASR flash hider, permanently attached to the 14.5-inch barrel, provides compatibility with ASR-pattern suppressor mounts. The system uses SilencerCo’s one-hand attachment design and locking ring to prevent rotation under sustained fire. The flash hider also incorporates resonance-suppression features intended to eliminate the tuning-fork effect common to some three-prong designs.
Specifically, the 14.5” .300 AAC Blackout features a nitride 4150V chrome moly steel barrel, with a twist rate of 1 in 7”, and a thread pitch of 5/8x24 with a JMAC customs RRD-2C Muzzle Device, pin & weld (because you are going to suppress it).

There are also FDE versions of the above, as well as separate uppers and lowers.
Finally, there’s also a YouTube video about the Olcan:
The PSA Olcan marks the latest expansion of the JAKL line into new form factors, bringing the series’ piston system and modularity into a compact bullpup configuration.

Depends. I built a bullpup project that I can fire from either shoulder. I believe reviewers have said the same about the Hellion. This has a reasonably far forward ejection port and big case deflector, so it might be similar.
LOL just LOL at the thought of releasing a bullpup in TYOOL Two Thousand Twenty Five that only ejects to the right. What are they, the new British Army?
