Less Length, Same Strength: Samson Unveils The SAS-K Stock

Samson Manufacturing has announced the latest addition to its growing line of rifle furniture with the introduction of the SAS-K (Samson Adjustable Stock - K), a compact variant of its existing SAS folding stock system. The new model answers long-standing customer requests for a shorter, more compact adjustable stock without sacrificing durability or functionality.

Samson is well known for producing the A-TM folding stock for the Ruger Mini-14 and Mini-Thirty platforms under license from Ruger, and the SAS-K continues that tradition of rugged, purpose-driven design. The new SAS-K reduces the length of pull by one inch compared to the standard SAS model, making it better suited for shooters who prefer a more compact setup, use body armor, or operate in confined spaces. Despite the shorter length, the SAS-K retains the same fully adjustable design as the original, allowing shooters to fine-tune fit and ergonomics.

The SAS folding stock system was initially released with a Picatinny rail interface, making it compatible with a wide range of modern firearms equipped with rear Picatinny mounting points. Built from robust materials and designed for hard use, the stock features a side-folding mechanism intended to improve transportability while maintaining a solid, repeatable lockup when deployed.

The S.A.S stock line has the following features:

  • Adjustable length of pull (five positions) via a spring-loaded button
  • Adjustable Cheek riser with height adjustments (four positions)
  • Front to rear Cheek riser adjustments (two positions)
  • Ambidextrous steel QD sling points
  • Folding mechanism can be adjusted for right or left side folding.
  • Trigger and safety clear on most model firearms
  • Rubber butt pad for comfort
  • Made from 6061-T6 Aluminum
  • Hard anodized
  • Available in black or with a FDE cerakote finish

Standard models feature a 10”-11” length of pull (LOP) measured from the back of the firearms rail interface. “K models LOP are from 9”-10”.

According to Samson Manufacturing, the SAS platform will continue to expand, with additional models already planned. These include variants designed to interface with AR-15–style buffer tubes, further broadening compatibility across popular rifle platforms.

The price is $315.65.

I bought the Retro a few years back and it was discontinued. I’m a bit confused after watching Steve of Brownells do his latest video. All I want to know is if the discontinued Retro that Brownells offered is the same quality as the “latest” scope with the Colt name ? Which just so happens to be $100 more. Can anyone clarify that? Please leave a comment. Thanks in advance.
