About Mystery Operations
My name is Eric Wilmarth, and I am the match director for Mystery Operations. We host “Run and Gun” competitions of various formats. I’m sure you’re familiar with 3-Gun, PRS, and Tactical Games. Well, we do that, but on a 4-10 mile offroad course with the stages spread out along. Competitors carry everything they need from the start and must balance their loadout to be light enough to get a good run time while having enough ammo to be successful shooting. We are 2nd Amendment loving citizens who appreciate having the physical fitness to compliment shooting proficiency.
What makes Mystery Operations unique?
“Run and Gun” is an outlaw type of match with each match director putting their own style on each event. I am proudly one. My scoring system is one of a kind. It objectively, fairly, and accurately scores competitors. We host these events at gorgeous but rough venues in Texas that give our competitors the challenges they need.
Here is the list of the upcoming Mystery Operations events:
- Red Dead Rio Bravo - January 10th. Rio Bravo Ranch in Presidio, TX. Join us for the exciting 4th annual Rio Bravo 3-gun biathlon event with .22LR “Gun Golf” on Sunday
- Bailout Biathlon - March 7th. H.W. Lewis Ranch in Leakey, TX.This marks our third time hosting the revolutionary biathlon format. Participants will tackle three exciting short courses, each carefully designed to challenge your skills with the pistol/PCC, carbine, and precision rifle. Don't miss the chance to test your abilities and compete in this unique, fast-paced event!
- Rifleman Round-Up - May 23rd. Dos Hermanos Ranch in San Angelo, TX. The inaugural event was enthusiastically claimed by its competitors as the “2025 Match of the Year,” making it an unmissable rifles-only competition. We’re proud to offer five, yes five, distinct classes to suit every participant: Reserves, Regulars, Elites, Bikes, and E-Bikes! Don’t miss your chance to compete in this exciting and diverse challenge.
- Midnight Mayhem - August 1st. Dos Hermanos Ranch in San Angelo, TX. The last two years have been absolute mayhem, with more than just shooting in the dark. Participants faced intense visual and auditory challenges, all while navigating an action-packed and demanding course that tested both skill and endurance.
- Jade Helm 26 - October 31st. H.W. Lewis Ranch in Leakey, TX. This year’s event sold out months in advance, attracting over 200 enthusiastic competitors, which speaks volumes about its popularity. If that tells you anything, it’s clear this event is a must-attend. You definitely won’t want to miss out on this epic year-end competition!
