Choosing the Right S&W 9mm

Picking the best S&W 9mm pistol ultimately comes down to the activity you’re using it for.

Concealed Carry

The Shield Plus or CSX is best for higher capacity, while the Equalizer is the better option if you plan to put optics on it.

Home Defense

The M&P 9 M2.0 full-size is best because of its higher capacity and accessory rail.

First-Time Buyers

The Shield EZ is best because it’s easier to use, thanks to its easy-to-rack slide, loaded-chamber indicator, and two safeties.

M&P vs. Glock

S&W M&P and Glock pistols are both reliable. It ultimately depends on personal preference. I have buddies who wouldn’t trade their Glocks for the world, but I don’t like how they feel in my hands. In my opinion, M&P pistols have better ergonomics, while Glock pistols have more aftermarket options, making them more customizable.

I have 4 S&W M&Ps. 3 have functioned perfectly from day 1, but the other, a M&P 10MM Performance Center refuse to feed even after being sent back to the factory. I have over 2200 rounds threw it, experiencing approximately 300 failures to feed. After trying different brands of ammunition the only brand that works good enough to allow me to use this pistol for target practice is Sellier & Bellot 180grs. SB10B JHP. Using FMJ, no matter what the manufacture, is little more than an attempt at futility. That said, I have a Glock 10MM and a Colt Delta Elite 10mm that function 100%. I was warned not to buy the S&W Performance Center 10 MM after reading a number of negative reviews, but threw my money to the wind anyway. Earlier, I purchased a Shadow Systems DR920 9MM and after the manufactures suggested break in period (which for me was 650 rounds) it now functions perfectly with 1750 rounds through it. I guess the saying "you win some, you lose some" sums up life experiences.

Just as lots are warned about the same problems with the Glock 10MM. It's difficult deciphering between all the pros and cons in the firearms industry.

Equalizer? I'm not buying a gun named after a TV show. Imagine how much fun a lawyer would have with that if you actually had to use it on someone
