True Weight Mag Insert - Loaded Magazine Weight Simulation Tool
Couple A Buds is a new company (established in 2023) that has developed a training product called the True Weight Mag Insert. These machined brass magazine inserts are designed to replicate the weight of a fully loaded magazine for training purposes. Additionally, these inserts deactivate the bolt hold open activation mechanism of the magazine to allow cycling the BCG without having it locked back and use dry fire lasers.
We’re just a, Couple A Buds. That's not just our company name but it encompasses us as a whole. We’re two friends who thought of an idea that can make the shooting community safer, while also bringing a new aspect to training.
The installation of the True Weight Mag Insert brass blocks into the magazines is a very quick, simple and straightforward process that does not even require disassembling the magazines. All you need to do is push the block into the magazine and move the nylon slider on the top of the block back. The removal of the inserts from the magazine is as easy; it’s the reverse procedure of the installation - move the nylon slider forward and the magazine spring will push the brass block out. The installation process is shown in videos on the company’s Instagram page. The edges of the True Weight Mag Inserts are rounded to prevent follower wear from multiple insertions of the weight into the magazine.
At the time of writing, there are three models of True Weight Mag Insert available: for 30-round AR-15 magazines ( $89.99), for 15-round 9mm pistol magazines ( $59.99) and for 10-round 9mm pistol mags ( $54.99). The AR-15 insert weighs 12.8oz, which is the weight of thirty 5.56x45 M855 (green tip) rounds. The 15- and 10-round pistol magazine inserts weigh 6.1 and 4.1 oz respectively.
