The Element Optics THEOS 2–10×42 is a mid-power variable optic (MPVO) designed to support rapid target engagement across a broad range of distances. Built around an ED optical system, the scope delivers consistent image quality throughout the magnification range while maintaining a compact overall footprint.

The optic uses Element’s MPR-1D first focal plane reticle, paired with diffractive illumination technology, allowing the reticle to remain usable from 2× through 10× in varying lighting conditions. Illumination is intended to provide a clear aiming reference without overpowering the reticle at higher magnifications.

Like the higher-magnification THEOS 6–36×, the 2–10×42 features Element’s RevTrak turret system, which integrates a mechanical zero stop and a visual revolution indicator. On this model, the turret assembly has been scaled down into a lower-profile design to better suit a lightweight, general-purpose setup.

The reticle is called MPR-1D MRAD and can be studied below.

Parallax adjustment is functional down to 10 meters / 10 yards, and Element includes a QuickSet tactile detent at 100 meters, allowing shooters to quickly return to a common zero distance under time pressure. With a 34mm tube, the scope provides generous elevation and windage travel while remaining compatible with modern mounting solutions.

At just under 12 inches in length and weighing under 30 ounces, the THEOS 2–10×42 fits squarely into the MPVO category, offering a balance between magnification range, adjustment capability, and size for use on carbines, SPR-style rifles, and lightweight precision builds. I’ve seen some competitors using it on DMR competitions, in the LPVO class, where 10x is the maximum.
