[SHOT 2026] Beretta Introduces the A300 Ultima Patrol in 20ga!
That’s right you read the title correctly, 20 gauge, and its 25% lighter than its 12 gauge counterpart. The 20ga A300 Ultima Patrol weighs in 6lbs, 2 whole pounds lighter than the 12ga model. The new A300 definitely felt handy and we had the chance to put quite a few rounds downrange during Beretta’s Range Day. Making rapid transitions between plates around 6 feet apart was a breeze.
The 20ga A300 Ultima Patrol is aimed at the tactical and self-defense market, it can hold 7+1 shells and a lot of people on the line had fun seeing how fast they could controllably dump the tube on target. Even smaller statured shooters found it easy to run the gun fast. The gun’s lighter weight and shorter, 12in standard length of pull really aids this.
But aren’t we sacrificing firepower with 20ga? To answer this Beretta points to Federal’s Personal Defense FLITECONTROL Shotshell which moves at about 1300fps and has 10 pellets of No.2 Buck. After putting a couple of magazine tubes worth of standard Norma 20ga Clay Strike down range it certainly felt punchy and the effect on target certainly looked like something I wouldn’t want to be in the way of.
Let's briefly talk specs. The 20ga A300 Ultima Patrol is 38in long with a 19.1in barrel, it has a 3in chamber and like the rest of the A300 series is gas operated. It weighs 6 lbs and has a receiver mounted Picatinny top rail. The guns are available in black, grey and grayscale tiger stripe.
Also on the line was a tricked out 20ga Ultima Patrol with a Chisel stock and forend. The stock is made from CNC’d 6061 solid billet-aluminum stock and has an integrated rail for mounting a red dot closer to the shooter’s eye. While the Chisel stock isn’t as elegant as the standard A300 stock it certainly gives it a tactical look and allows you to fit your favourite AR-15 pistols grips.
The 20ga Ultima Patrol MSRP starts at $1,299.00 and you can find out more information over at www.beretta.com.

I’m 6’4” with a sleeve length of 36”. No problem shooting a Garand (13” pull). My house gun is a Mossberg 500 20 gauge Super Bantam with. 12” pull. Sometimes the chicken wing is worth compactness.
Did you actually shoot 25-50 shells of the Federal Flight Control? If my math is right, that's only a 2/3rd ounce load which will not run or run reliably in a semiauto 20ga. Did Federal and Beretta collaborate on this?
