Fudd Friday: Pump-Action Or Semi-Auto Shotgun For Hunting?
A few points at first. While you decide what works for you, let’s point out that whether we’re hunting upland birds (pheasants, grouse, woodcock) or waterfowl (geese and ducks, mostly), it doesn’t make much difference in what action you decide on. There are lots of great upland shotguns in both semi-auto and pump-action configurations. The same goes for waterfowl. However, it is worth pointing out that waterfowlers often slug it out against the elements in much worse conditions than upland hunters, which raises our first question:
TFB Review: The New Benelli M2-G1 Shotgun
Welcome back to another TFB review. This week we have one of Benelli’s newest offerings: the updated modular version of their classic M2 semi-automatic shotguns. In a world of modern, highly customizable semi-auto shotguns, Benelli has always been one of the main options, with their lineup allowing the M2-G1 to be a fantastic option for consumers who want top quality without going extremely high on their budget, such as something like Benelli's flagship M4 variants that I reviewed last year. If you happened to miss my M4 EXT review, be sure to click the link here to check it out. Let's take a closer look at the brand new Benelli M2-G1.
Derya MAX Breaks Cover: Three Barrels, Six Magazines, One New Shotgun

Beretta A400 Solo: Speed & Softness in a Mid-Range Semi-Auto
Beretta's new A400 Solo slots into the Goldilocks zone of the A400 lineup: faster cycling and cleaner operation than the A300 family, but without the premium features and recoil reduction of the Xtreme Plus or AX800 Suprema. It's built for hunters who want the A400 platform's proven reliability in genuinely harsh conditions (which include flooded timber, salt marsh, upland slop) without the extra cost.

[SHOT 2026] Beretta Introduces the A300 Ultima Patrol in 20ga!
That’s right you read the title correctly, 20 gauge, and its 25% lighter than its 12 gauge counterpart. The 20ga A300 Ultima Patrol weighs in 6lbs, 2 whole pounds lighter than the 12ga model. The new A300 definitely felt handy and we had the chance to put quite a few rounds downrange during Beretta’s Range Day. Making rapid transitions between plates around 6 feet apart was a breeze.
[SHOT 2026] The Polymer Receiver Beretta AX800 Semi-Auto Shotgun
Founded in 1526, Beretta turns 500 years old in 2026! This year's Beretta Range Day, held at the Pro Gun Vegas range in Boulder City, Nevada, was focused on celebrating their quincentenary. We had the honor of being invited to attend the event, and it was a truly amazing experience, as we had the chance to shoot the newest Beretta firearms, ranging from rimfire handguns to high-end shotguns. In this article, we'll take a look at the new Beretta AX800 Suprema 12 gauge semi-auto waterfowl shotgun.

Fast forward and Benelli is still pushing to make their flagship M4 shotgun even better with the release of the M4 EXT model. Benelli has created a factory 922R-compliant shotgun with every accessory customers have been asking for from the factory. Let's take a closer look at the new Benelli M4 EXT.

PSA's Modular 570 Semi-Auto Shotgun Concept | SHOT Show 2025
Last year Palmetto State Armory pitched the 570 shotgun as one of their 2024 concept guns, and it was our favorite gun from the entire show. Since then they figured out a way to build a semi-auto shotgun off of the same receiver, allowing end users to swap between action types while keeping the same receiver and furniture. @Hoplopfheil stopped by the PSA booth to check it out and implore viewers to cast their vote for the shotgun because it is very cool.

The Ultimate Suppressed SBS: The Genesis Arms PDS
For our last piece of video coverage from TriggrCon 2024, Luke C ( @BallisticAviation)is speaking with Genesis Arms about their new PDS or "Personal Defense Shotgun." This barely 24" long Short Barreled Shotgun sports an 8" reciprocating barrel that keeps the intense recoil of 12 gauge down to a minimum. When combined with the special fixed mount Ventum suppressor, the concussion is also brought down to a manageable level for effective use during indoor shooting or door breaching. As an added cherry on top, the variant that Genesis Arms has brought to this year's Range Day is also full-auto - to help demonstrate how fun and effective the new Genesis PDS can be.
Tim Walz: MN Governor, Vice President Nominee, Beretta Owner
Everyone, hold your breath. The Minnesota TFB writer is about to head into deep water and go political. Nah, I’m just kidding. We aren’t going to discuss why I like or tremendously dislike my governor and newly minted vice president nominee, Tim Walz. We are going to discuss his tried-and-true shotgun: the Beretta A400 Xcel Sporting.
Hatsan BullTac SA: Semi-Auto Bullpup Scattergun
In late 2023, Hatsan introduced a new pump-action bullpup to the U.S. market. If you liked that idea, but you thought you’d like it a lot more if it was semi-auto, then we have good news for you: That’s exactly what Hatsan is bringing to the States now, with the new BullTac SA shotgun.
