Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. has added two new LCP MAX variants (models 13749 and 13754) equipped with manual safeties mounted on the left side of the frame. In addition to the safety, model 13754 includes a magazine disconnect and a loaded chamber indicator located on top of the slide.

The Ruger LCP Max @ TFB:

Both models feature matte stainless slides with polished sides and defined cocking serrations. The grip frame has a textured finish for added control. Sights include a tritium front with a white outline and a U-notch rear. The rear sight also has a flat front face designed to aid one-handed slide manipulation. The dovetails are compatible with aftermarket Bodyguard-pattern sights.

Internally, the pistols retain the standard LCP MAX updates, including revised feed lips, feed ramp, extractor, and barrel cam geometry. Ruger’s patented barrel cam system is designed to delay unlocking, reduce slide speed, and soften perceived recoil compared to similar .380 ACP pistols. The Secure Action™ fire-control system features a protected internal hammer and a trigger with a bladed safety, short pull, clean break, and tactile reset.

For an overview, here are Ruger’s bullet points (pun intended) for the new LCP Max:

  • Matte stainless steel slide features polished sides resulting in crisp cocking serrations.
  • Standard 10-round magazine ships with flush floorplate installed. 12-round magazines available at ShopRuger.com.
  • Textured grip frame provides a secure and comfortable grip. Utilizing the 12-round magazine, or included finger grip extension floorplate with the 10-round magazine, allows most shooters a full-firing grip.
  • Slide and frame surfaces and edges are smooth for comfortable carry and handling.
  • Tritium front sight with white outline makes for fast acquisition in all light conditions.
  • Rear sight features a generous u-notch for easy alignment and a square front face for one-handed cocking. Sight dovetails are sized to accept aftermarket Bodyguard-pattern sights.
  • Improved magazine feed lips, feed ramp, extractor, and barrel cam geometries.
  • Patented barrel cam geometry delays unlocking, slows the slide, and ultimately reduces felt recoil compared to other .380 Auto pistols.
  • Utilizes Ruger's safe, reliable and proven Secure Action™ fire-control system that combines a protected internal hammer with a bladed-safety trigger. The trigger has a short, smooth pull, clean break and positive reset.
  • Reversible magazine release.

Both variants ship with one 10-round magazine, a soft pocket holster, and a magazine loader. The suggested retail price is $379.00.

The model 13754, with the loaded chamber indicator, doesn’t have any images yet, but the details can be found here: https://www.ruger.com/products/lcpMax/specSheets/13754.html

I get that it was probably made to check a box for ninny states, but that safety lever looks pretty rinkydink, and it seems kinda silly to keep the trigger dongle if the pistol has a thumb safety.

CA/MA compliance was my thought too, but it's not certified for sale in either, as of yet.
