POTD: The AK M4 (M4A) With Blank-Firing Adapters
Photo Of The Day: When the interim weapon, Automatkarbin M4A (M4A carbine), was introduced into the Swedish Armed Forces earlier this year, it was the result of an expedited procurement to compensate for the technical issues with Automatkarbin 5 as well as the firing ban on the latest Automatkarbin 24.
The advantage was that the Armed Forces received reliable and combat-proven weapons. The downside was that they were delivered without blank-firing adapters compatible with Swedish blank ammunition.
Since then, the Swedish Armed Forces, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), and industry partners have been working to develop and produce dedicated blank-firing adapters for this firearm.
These are now starting to be issued to units, and the 71st Battalion is the first to receive them, just after completing its battalion exercise ahead of the deployment to Latvia that begins after the turn of the year.
For more details, check “ The AK M4A - Sweden’s Newest Service Rifle” and “ The Swedish Automatkarbin 24 (Ak 24) - A Detailed Summary” articles.
In an upcoming POTD, you’re going to see the AK M4 with a completely different muzzle device.
