POTD: GO2 Weapons in Tunisia

Today's Photo Of The Day takes us to Ben Ghilouf Training Area, Tunisia, where a Tunisian Armed Forces soldier is seen lining up his shot during sniper training as part of African Lion 2025 (AL25). The rifle is a GO2 Weapons, where the lower says Mod: G2762, caliber 7.62 mm. The model is likely a GO2 Weapons G2 PSR (Precision Sniper Rifle).
The rifle scope is made by Steiner and mounted quite forward (in my opinion). To my knowledge, and by the looks of it,Ā this rifle does not have a monolithic upper. It would be interesting to know if this firearm belongs to the Tunisian Army or some of their guests.
Held annually, African Lion is the largest U.S.-led military exercise on the continent, and this yearās edition is bigger than ever. Spanning four host nations (Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, and Tunisia), AL25 brings together more than 40 nations, including seven NATO allies and 10,000 troops, for a month of realistic, multi-domain training.
These images capture one of the core objectives of the exercise: sharpening precision marksmanship and interoperability in challenging, austere environments. The soldier's rifle, part of the sniper training curriculum, is said to demonstrate Tunisia's increasing emphasis on long-range engagement capabilities and tactical integration with allied forces.
The rifle below (and a few others) has a thermal sight mounted. Iāve never tried a thermal in a desert, but it would be an interesting thing to do and discover how it works. If youāre able to calibrate to certain temperature levels, I presume youād get great functionality.
Led by the U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), African Lion 2025 enhances collective readiness across continents, preparing participants to deploy, fight, and win in complex, joint environments.
Stay tuned for more international photos showcasing rare gear, unique weapons systems, and multinational military cooperation.

"...for a month of realistic, multi-domain training."
I think you mean to say, "...for a scripted "battle" where US Marines are terrified of other nations having negligent discharges from poorly trained conscripts of other nations while they form up in the assembly area." In AFL 2008, host nation ND'd a Kornet Anti tank missile off the back of their Toyota Hilux as we formed up. But the host nation food was great!
Why are we exporting our fighting techniques to foreign countries who use it against us tomorrow? Havenāt we learned our lesson yet about technology transfer, educating the next enemy, stop this craziness now please.
