MK Machining - New Integrated Anti-Reflection Device Scope Caps

“My steel targets don’t shoot back, so why add the weight?” For those in tactical or hunting scenarios where concealment is paramount, the consensus is clear: the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. Plus, it looks damn cool! MK Machining now has a new optimized proprietary design that keeps your optic protected and hidden, without breaking the bank. Each cap is said to be precision-fit down to the thousandth of an inch.
ARDs (Anti-Reflection Device) and integrated scope caps are more or less standard in all military and law enforcement optics, with applications extending to wildlife photography and surveillance. The technology has evolved from a niche military tool to a versatile accessory, driven by decades of lessons learned in the field. From Hathcock’s close calls in Vietnam to modern snipers in urban theaters, the need to eliminate scope glint remains a constant.
Going back in history, to the jungles of Vietnam, a Marine sniper’s scope is said to have glinted in the sun, revealing his position to the enemy. Incidents like those, echoed in tales of snipers like Carlos Hathcock, highlighted a deadly problem: scope reflections. The need to eliminate glint drove the development of Anti-Reflection Devices (ARDs) and, later, integrated ARD scope caps, revolutionizing optics for snipers, hunters, and tactical shooters.
Early solutions relied on long sunshades to block stray light, but these bulky tubes failed against direct sunlight. By the mid-20th century, the honeycomb ARD emerged, a grid of tiny hexagonal tubes that trapped light, reducing reflections while allowing clear target views.
Though ARDs reduce light transmission, their stealth benefits are undeniable for tactical and hunting scenarios. From Vietnam’s jungles to modern urban operations, ARDs and integrated caps have become critical tools, ensuring shooters stay hidden (while looking cool at the range or the match) when it matters most.
There are several color options available.
MK Machining produces in the USA and backs their products with a 100% lifetime warranty. I’ve met them at exhibitions around the world, and their quality and service seem very high.
You can find MK Machining’s full line of Integrated ARD Scope Caps here (I counted 22 brands, and probably hundreds of scopes, plus colors and other options):

They have quite a few clever (and fun) things on their homepage.
I have hunted hundreds of days on some fairly crowded public lands. I have never noticed anyone's scope "glinting", even when we were looking at each other. It's my favorite way to watch the game wardens, and I've never spooked any of them either.
