POTD: German Bundeswehr’s Master Key - Mehrzweckflinte 5

In today’s Photo Of The Day, we get some shotgun action. Here we can see the specialized forces of the German Bundeswehr rely on a unique tool for quickly opening windows and doors: the Multi-Purpose Shotgun 5, or MZF 5. Or MehrZweckFlinte 5 in the German language, like a “Multi Pass” for all levels. Unlike a combat weapon, this modern shotgun is optimized for breaking hinges and locks.

The compact size of the MZF 5, with a barrel length of just 28 centimeters (just over 11”), allows for flexible positioning at the correct angle. The tubular magazine holds five rounds. The ammunition is said to consist of compressed zinc powder that disperses immediately after leaving the muzzle, ensuring maximum effectiveness with minimal risk to the operator. The pistol grip further enhances the comfortable and flexible handling of this pump-action shotgun.

The manufacturer is FABARM, and the original name is STF 12 Short.

This is not the first Master Key on our POTD. Check these out as well: POTD: The Master Key, POTD: M26 Modular Accessory Shotgun System (MASS) and Mossberg M500A2 Military Enhancement Kit for Marine Breachers

If there isn't a manufacturer of bulletproof hinges, there sure is a potential market there.

Mehrzweckflinte, is translate to "Multiple use Shotgun" not multipass, wich would be something like Universallkarte

    • You didn't get it.

It wasn't a translation - it was a reference to the "multi pass" in the movie 5th Element.
