The 6.5CMR is popular in part because it can be fired from .308 caliber firearms with minimal modification. This is a big benefit for most gun manufacturers who already sell .308 caliber firearms.

The .25CMR does not seem to have this benefit.

6.5CM is not exactly .308 necked down to 6.5, but it's close enough in terms of case head, COAL, etc. to use the same receivers, mags, and bolts. If this is the same thing necked down to .25, why would it not offer the same interchangeability?

What I don't understand is that every comparison he's giving for .25 vs. 6.5 (lighter, lower-recoiling bullets that are even more streamlined for a given length) is even more true for 6mm. What does this add given 6CM already exists? With no really modern mainstream .25 there seem to be more 6.5 and 6mm components available.

What problem is this solving, other than giving the marketing dept a false sense of purpose?

and so are other wildcats and 6mm CMR or 6.5CMR and a bunch of other new boutique rounds. Just because it's used in competitive long range shooting as a wildcat doesn't mean it needs to go commercial. In fact, it's kinda stupid because the benefit of a wildcat round in competitive shooting is that the load is being custom tailored by the shooter and fitted to their gun's capabilities. When it becomes commercialized, it introduces a lot of loads and new rifles that may or may not support dimensions and pressures and so on of the wildcat loads, and cause some significant issues.
