Vortex has just released their new Ranger HD 3000 10x42 Laser Rangefinding binocular.

One of the most important devices in outdoor optics, but easily forgotten or overlooked, is the rangefinding binoculars. Today we take them for granted, but these advanced tools combine optical magnification with precise distance measurement, making them indispensable for hunters, wildlife enthusiasts, and tactical professionals. Their ability to range farther, reduce equipment load, and enhance accuracy makes them a game-changer for outdoor pursuits.

Laser Range Finder Binoculars @ TFB:

The new Ranger HD 3000 will give you an angular Field of View of 6.4º and range up to 3000 yds on reflective targets. The weight is 32.4 oz.

Here’s Vortex’s press release:

”BARNEVELD, WI - In the most important moments, the last thing hunters want is to be juggling gear to get the data they need for a clean shot. The Ranger® HD 3000 10x42 Laser Rangefinding Binocular streamlines your loadout by combining modern HD optics with precise ranging capabilities, all in a compact platform that keeps your hands free to hunt. With a maximum reflective range of 3,000 yards, 1,500 on game, these powerful new binoculars are ideal for big game, predator, and archery hunters.
Building in rangefinding capabilities doesn’t compromise optical quality. The HD optics are optimized to deliver excellent color fidelity, edge-to-edge sharpness, and light transmission. That means you get the optical performance you need to pick game out of any environment, along with the power to precisely range it.”

The Ranging Modes work as follows:

  • Horizontal Component Distance (HCD): Shows the distance to the target adjusted for the slope angle.
  • Line of Sight (LOS): Provides the direct, unadjusted line-of-sight distance to the target.
  • SCAN Feature: Offers continuous distance updates while sweeping across a landscape.

And these are the Target Modes:

  • Normal Mode: The default setting that displays the distance to the target with the strongest signal. Best for most scenarios.
  • First Mode: Shows the closest distance when ranging. Perfect for smaller targets in front of larger or more reflective objects.
  • Last Mode: Displays the farthest distance when ranging. Ideal for targeting something specific behind obstacles like brush, trees, or rocks.
The Ranger HD 3000 uses HCD (Horizontal Component Distance) angle-compensated ranging technology to give bow and rifle shooters the critical distance data needed to make accurate shots.

The reply to “what’s in the box” is pretty easy, with this list and the attached image.

  • GlassPak™ Binocular Harness
  • Comfort Neck Strap
  • Lens Cloth
  • Tethered Objective Lens Covers
  • Rainguard Eyepiece Cover
  • CR123 Battery

The Ranger HD 3000 10x42 Laser Rangefinding Binocular has an MSRP of $1199.99.

Another one of those "it sucks to be a poor" products, although the price is lower than I expected.
