Jacob Grey Firearms have introduced a new 9mm double-stack 1911/2011-pattern pistol called the NOX 9. This new handgun has been in the making for over 12 years and is fully CNC machined in-house. Let’s take a look at the specs and features of the new Jacob Grey Firearms NOX 9 pistol.

Jacob Grey Firearms @ TFB:

“The Nox 9 is more than just another pistol launch — we’re making a statement to the world that Jacob Grey deserves respect. Our goal is to disrupt the space with new standards, higher expectations, and a firearm priced according to real numbers,” said Todd Neice, President of Jacob Grey Firearms. “We’ve invested heavily in automation and technology that allow us to manufacture with aerospace-level precision and without shortcuts. The result is the Nox 9: superior consistency, performance, and craftsmanship.”

Here is the list of the key features of the NOX 9 pistol from the Jacob Grey Firearms’ press release:

  • 5-inch ported slide and integrally compensated barrel for reduced recoil and flatter shooting.
  • Fuly CNC Machined from billet 4140 pre-hardened steel frame, DLC coated for improved slide-to-frame fit and longevity compared to aluminum frames.
  • Innovative Grip Module – designed to allow your hand to lay perfectly on the backstrap allowing for a high grip for complete control
  • Armored Billet™ ignition components — hammer, sear, disconnector, oversized mag release and safety levers — all CNC-machined from tool steel and DLC/PVD coated.
  • 2.5 lb Controlled Radius Trigger™ with over-travel adjustment and enhanced hammer/sear engagement.
  • Optic-ready with RMR footprint plate positioned rear of the ejection port for unobstructed function.
  • Exclusive patented ejector design, unique to the Nox 9 platform.

The overall weight of the NOX 9 pistol is 39oz (unloaded, with no magazine) and it has the following dimensions: length - 8.75”, height - 5.75”, grip width - 1.75”.

The price of the Jacob Grey Firearms NOX 9 pistol is $5,800. The pistol will be available in limited quantities and the lead time is 2-4 months. The gun comes with two 17-round magazines.

A new $6k 2011 comes out every week it seems. This one is priced way too high in my opinion. I would rather get an Atlas for a few more dollars or a Hayes Custom for about the same price. For almost two grand less, the Race City Defense RC9 or Staccato XC is a better buy.

The comped Atlas Erebus is another $2k, but I'm guessing that kind of buyer spending almost $6k is less deterred from spending an extra $2k on a pistol than poly striker fire buying peasants like me are.

There are way cooler guns out there for around six grand than yet another 2011.
