Night vision is the hot new ticket for preppers and other people who like serious tactical equipment, but sometimes you need a visible light too. And what if you’re running either option? The Princeton Tec Ghost X aims to please by offering something to both types of users.

Light ‘em up @ TFB:

Well-thought-out design

Princeton Tec has been making tactical lights and other illuminators for a very long time (founded in 1975!). This means they have a good idea of what features people need, and the Ghost X shows that in several ways.

See that lever on the side of the light, flipped down? That means Ghost Mode is disengaged. [Zac K.]
And here we see it flipped up, for stealthy Ghost Mode. [Zac K.]

This light can use CR123 batteries for a power source, but if you’re stuck and can’t find any, you can use AAs instead. It comes with a feature they call Ghost Mode; essentially, it’s a lock-out that stops you from breaking light discipline and accidentally switching on the Ghost X’s 300 lumens. If you’re trying to stay stealthy, the Ghost X can instead offer 320 mWr of 940 nm IR, just the thing for snooping around without being seen, and when you’re in Ghost Mode, you can only activate IR High, IR Low or IR Strobe settings (the main 300-lumen light is also dimmable).

If you wear your headlamp around your neck, this clip makes it easier to put on and off. [Zac K.]

The Ghost X comes in a headlamp-only version (with a handy Fastex-style clip, so you can easily use it as a necklamp as well, as some users prefer to do). It’s also available in a MPLS version that comes with easy mounting options for your helmet, or for MOLLE strips. Mounting attachments include an NVG adapter plate and an ARC adapter plate.

You can see full specs for the Ghost X light at their website here. It’s supposed to hit the market in mid-March, at an MSRP of $99.99.
