Magpul Unveils New UCS Stock for Rear Picatinny-Mounted Firearms

I have to say that I’d love my ARs to have a rear-mounted Picatinny rail, so I could switch stocks more often. Unfortunately, I don’t think that’s going to happen, but those who own a firearm with this feature are now getting a new option with Magpul's release of the UCS (Utility Carbine Stock).

The UCS is a new folding stock designed specifically for firearms equipped with rear-mounted M1913/Picatinny rails. It brings a mix of modularity, adjustability, and compatibility, with a range of features that aim to improve usability across various weapon platforms.

The UCS is designed with adaptability in mind. Its reversible folding hinge allows the stock to fold to either the left or right, depending on user preference or firearm setup. It also incorporates a 5° drop angle to provide better clearance for charging handles, ejection ports, or other controls—something many current folding stocks lack.

For cheek height customization, the stock ships with two tool-less, reversible risers (0.50” and 0.75”), and includes a reversible M1913 mounting clamp that offers ½-slot height adjustment. Combined, these elements allow the shooter to fine-tune comb height and head position for iron sights or optics.

Magpul’s new stock also offers six positions of length of pull (LOP) adjustment, covering 3 inches of total travel, via push-button controls. Whether running armor or shooting slick, the UCS is built to fit a wide range of shooters. It weighs just over 18 ounces and features a reversible QD sling socket with anti-rotation built in.

The stock is also compatible with MOE SL® and DT series butt-pads, giving users some flexibility in padding and recoil management.

The Magpul UCS features:

  • Six position, push-button adjustable LOP (3” total adjustment)
  • Reversible folding mechanism
  • Toolless removable and reversible cheek risers included (0.5” and 0.75”)
  • 5° drop angle for charging handle and ejection port clearance
  • Reversible M1913 clamp for ½-slot height adjustment
  • Reversible anti-rotation QD Socket
  • Weighs just over 18 ounces

The UCS is available in Black and FDE finishes, with an MSRP of $219.95.

They’re not available just yet, but you can have a deeper peek online here: https://magpul.com/ucs.html

Neat! Hoping to get some reviews soon about how sturdy it is in actual practice.

If it's anything like the Zhukov (which it seems to riff on a bit) it will be rock solid. I have two of them. One was purchased used. Both are about as solid as a folding/telescoping stock can get. This new one here is heavier that I would like to see, and more expensive, but looks very well thought out.
