Beretta USA has launched the 80X Cheetah Tactical Desert, a new color variant of its 80X Cheetah series, following the black model. This .380 caliber pistol integrates the Cheetah's traditional design with modern tactical features for concealed carry use. The 80X Cheetah Tactical Desert is equipped with a ½”-28 threaded barrel for suppressor compatibility, an optic-ready slide, and an adjustable X-treme S trigger system. These features, housed in a compact design, ensure reliable performance, improved control, and faster follow-up shots. The pistol is designed for concealed carry and home defense, combining functionality with a distinct appearance. I’ve never suppressed a .380, probably because I don’t own anything in that caliber, but this Beretta sounds like an interesting project.

“The 80X Cheetah Tactical delivers performance upgrades that shooters have been asking for while staying true to the comfort and shootability that made the original Cheetah iconic,” said Logan Killam, Sr. Pistol Product Manager at Beretta USA. “With the new FDE finish, it brings a modern edge to a timeless platform.”

Key Features:

  • 1/2x28” Threaded Barrel
  • 2-Slot Picatinny Rail
  • Decocker Frame Mounted Safety
  • Reversible Mag Releases
  • Adjustable X-treme S Trigger with Skeletonized Hammer
  • Optic Ready Slide with Interchangeable Sights
  • Vertec Style Grip with FDE Panels
  • Picatinny Rail for Accessories
  • Two 15 Round Magazines (or 10 rounders).

FDE almost never looked so good, and I love the black contrasting barrel and other functional parts.

The 80X Cheetah Tactical is available now and has an MSRP of $749. Check this direct link for more details: https://www.beretta.com/en-us/product/80x-cheetah-tactical-desert-FA0235

I just wish Beretta could have provided images of what this Cheetah would have looked like with a red dot optic and a suppressor, because that’s how I’d have envisioned my project. How would you like yours?

When I first started carrying, it was always a .45 Auto and no self respecting man would carry a 9mm because that was a "lady's gun." My, oh my, how times have changed.

Fast forward 4-1/2 decades and reduced muscle mass is making even a lady's gun a bit difficult to control under the stress of a clock. Imagine the real stress of a self-defense situation. That's where a mid-size or larger .380 comes into its own. I absolutely love my P365-380 because it's not snappy like the tiny pocket .380's, yet it's small and light enough to carry without being a nuisance. Loaded with HST's, it meets FBI requirements for stopping power, so it's the perfect balance of power and controllability for elderly old farts like me.

I don't need a tacticool gun festooned with all the latest gadgets and I don't want a brown Gucci gun. I want something I can easily conceal and count on when I need it. Let's face it, at my age, I'm not going to fight Jihadis in the desert. If I were, I'd carry a rifle.

I have a standard black 80X. It has become my EDC. I use Plus P ammo and it's right up there with my 9mm Glock or Sig 365. It's also replaced my 84 which I've had for years.
