POTD: Time to Train - Tikka TAC A1 in 6.5 Creedmoor

After spending too much time in the safe, this Tikka T3x TAC A1 in 6.5 Creedmoor is back where it belongs - on the range. As winter gives way to spring, conditions are opening up for precision rifle training, and platforms like this are built to be used, not stored.

POTD: Blaser R8 300,000 “The Wild Planet”

For today’s Photo Of The Day, we have pictures of Blaser Custom Shop’s latest creation, the R8 300,000 "The Wild Planet” rifle. The metal surfaces of this rifle are almost completely covered in miniature Blaser Argali head logos; however, the rifle has multiple hinged parts that include the receiver sides, grip cap, and cheek rest, which, when opened, reveal elaborate wildlife engravings executed by master engraver Daniel Karagiannis.

POTD: “The tendency is to push it as far as you can”

I don’t want to make any kind of links between drug use and gun ownership, but there’s a quote from the movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998) that keeps on ringing: “Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get locked into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can.” ( Source). I’ve never ever touched any kind of drugs, except alcohol, in my life, but it seems that collecting guns, optics, suppressors and other similar accessories becomes an addiction as well. We don’t really need all that for our next visit to the range (or for those who play the safe queen game only), but we still push the collection as far as we can.

POTD: German Schlegelmilch Prototype Repeater Pistol

For today’s Photo Of The Day, we have pictures of a handgun that almost looks AI-generated. However, it is a real firearm consigned to the upcoming August 2025 Rock Island Premier Firearms Auction. Designed by Louis Schlegelmilch circa 1891, this is an Imperial German prototype pistol. In addition to its rather interesting appearance, this pistol also has a quite unusual mechanism and features. It is an internal magazine-fed manual repeater with a side-moving breech block actuated by cocking the hammer, and it features a cleaning rod/screwdriver attached to the left side of the frame.

POTD: U.S. Navy SEALs Train with Indian MARCOS

TFB’s Photo Of The Day goes to India, hand in hand with the U.S. Naval Special Warfare operators and Indian Marine Commando Force (MARCOS) - in a race to find out if bullpups are better than ARs? Initially, the purpose of this series was perhaps not to show the most well-trained Special Forces with the coolest firearms and equipment. Yet here we are, and we hear few complaints. So it seems you’re enjoying yourselves watching these images.

POTD: Putting The XM7 To The Test At Fort Campbell

Photo Of The Day and we’re looking at Maj. Jonathon Bless as he tests the optics on the XM7 rifle at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. This side-view really shows how big of a beast the XM7 is. As regular readers of TFB surely know by now, the XM7 is a part of the U.S. Army's Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) program. Designed by SIG Sauer, the XM7 is a 6.8mm rifle meant to replace the M4 and other legacy rifles, offering greater firepower and range. The XM7 is often paired with the advanced XM157 Fire Control System, which integrates optics and ballistic calculation to assist soldiers in acquiring targets with precision.

POTD: Sandstorm by Daniel Defense

Even if a gun is sold out, never to be made again in that style, they can be highly suitable for our Photo Of The Day. In fact, it probably only makes them even more attractive for us to run. Such is the case for the Daniel Defense Limited Series “SANDSTORM”.

POTD: Winkler Knives Push Dagger EDC

Years ago we did a Photo Of The Day with Winkler Knives, so with regards to the great quality of their product images it’s only fair to run one again. The EDC above is probably too hardcore for the local legislation where I live, with a SIG Sauer pistol, two push daggers and some mace. But I’d probably get away with the Multitasker Tool, a flashlight and the lighter, until they ban those as well for no good reason.
